Why do paper cuts hurt so much?

This is the second paper cut that I have gotten in a month. Forgive me for whining, but I wonder if there are any doctors or nurses out there that can answer my question.
Why does a tiny paper cut hurt so much? Also, wondering why it takes so long to heal...hmmmm

honestly i have to say that i never know when i get a paper cut or any kind of cut until it starts bleeding or soap gets in it. i know most people it does hurt a lot and i don't know why. they've said it hurts worse than a cut from something much bigger. i've never had a problem with it healing before. they usually heal pretty quick for me.

I don't really know . I hate getting papercuts. I think I rather get cut with a night than with a piece of paper. At least that will not hurt as much.
