SIDS - Will you co sleep with your baby?

I have heard that SIDS are often caused when the baby are sleeping together in a bed with the parents. The Australian charity SIDS and KIDS recommend that the baby sleep in their own bed in their parents room for the first 6 to 12 months. I think when I have a baby, I will do it just like this, and not sleeping with the baby as Im afraid I might squash them if they sleep between the adults, or they may roll over and fall from the bed if they sleep nearing the edge. But I gotta admit some mothers (or fathers) have the ability to sleep together with their babies and it is still safe. So, what is your opinion? Will you co sleep with your baby? Or will you separate them? Why and why not? Any other suggestion to prevent SIDS?

Co-sleeping actually reduces the risk of SIDS. It does increase suffocation risks if you don't co-sleep safely, but suffocation is not SIDS. There are many precautions to take if you co-sleep. Don't co-sleep on a couch or chair, only on a bed. Don't use heavy, fluffy blankets. Don't co-sleep if you're a deep sleeper or under the influence of anything. I've co-slept for 2 1/2 years and I love it.

we have been co-sleeping with our 22-month old daughter since she was born. she hates being left in her crib and i'm paranoid that i might not get to her in time in case she suffocates (by pillow or blanket) in her crib. both my husband and i are light sleepers anyway so we are easily woken even by the slightest movement by our baby.
