Who on here has routine yard sales during the warmer months? Or maybe year round if you live in a warmer climate.
I usually team up with my mom and we have yard sales as soon as it's nice enough to sit out for a few hours. We usually choose saturday and sunday to have our yard sales, and we usually haul in about 100 dollars a piece.
If you have yard sales, what do you sell? And if you just love to shop at the yard sales, what do you usually buy?

My mother-in-law usually have a couple or so throught out the wammer months over at her place. She's got a great high traffic area to have them. I just sell everything I don't want or need anymore. I've got clothes mostly now and just a few odds and ends. We really don't rake in an average amount but I think the lowest we've raked in is about $30 for me. That was a very slow day - at the end of the season. People tend to not stop by when they've been there already once or twice. I'm guessing this year my sister-in-law will join us as well. She just recently moved back to the area.

Yep location is the key. She lives on the main road between the extremely small town I live in and the bigger town that everyone has to do all the shopping (and working) in. So it makes for a nice local :)

A great area is a must. We are located right on the main road going through town, and on the weekends people come in this way from other towns to look through the yard sales.

I love to go to yard sales. I have not been to one latley due to me not having a car to use and I can't seem to get the money from my hubby, but when I went it was a lot of fun. I bought almost all of my babies clothes and toys there along with furniture other house hold items. I do give a yard sale every once in a while and the last one I had I made about 300, which my husband kept to my ire.

I use to have Yard sales all the time. I find that you make more money with the furniture or applainaces. Clothes and nick knacks you don't make alot.

That's very true. I think that my mother and I mainly have yard sales just to get outside and relax in the sun for a few hours more than to make big money. We do usually bring in a hundred each, but even that isn't much nowadays. :)

I have never had one, but i've gone to a few in my lifetime. i go whenever i see a poster up on the main street and its not too far to walk. They usually start spring time here, i guess everyone like to spring clean! I think its a really good idea to recycle and reuse all the old stuff that your not going to use anymore, maybe someone else will have a use for it :) And you earn some spare money as well! good topic! :)

Yard sales are quite popular here, and I just love going to see what other people consider to be junk, or useless. Thanks for responding.

I have had 2 garage sales and because I share my yard with friends to set up stalls I have never really come out ahead, and with the people who ask if I will take a lot less than I have the price on the items I never like to say no, so I guess I don't do really well....

My g/f enjoys spending our Sundays in the warm weather going from yard sale to yard sale. She is always on the prowl for beads and jewellry she can take apart to make her own creations. It is a nice way to spend a few hours.During the fall months, she likes to take what she has created and go into craft fairs to sell them.

Very nice! Does she sell her crafts online? I am also into buying, but I buy to keep..lol. And one of my greatest weaknesses just happens to be beads and anything made with beads!
All the best to her and her creations! And all the best to you as well.

I haven't had a yard sale since I left Newfoundland to move to Ontario and we made close to 1000 dollars. When we moved up here we went to yard sales every weekend for a month. We got all our living room furniture, a folding bed, and many other things to live comfortably until we could afford to buy furniture for the hourse. I still stop at them on the weekends. I like to go to second hand shops to and look at clothes.

Newfoundland is a fabulous place for yard sales...I must say that. When the weather is warm you can drive up this road alone and see at least 3 or 4. I also go to second hand shops, but my favorite is back in Halifax. My friend and I make it a mommy time to go there with the kids, they have an area set up so that kids can play while parents shop. It's not sitting for a coffee or anything, but we have a routine now and it's alot of fun.
