When you are feeling down and you can not seem to smile
what one thing is always sure to bring your smile back?
For me ..it's my cat Missy..if she sees me down or crying
she comes over and meows and meows and bites on my shirt and
pulls it and meows and then goes near my ears and purrs..
She keeps up till I stop crying..
What is it that brings your smile back when you are blue?

When i am feeling down most of the time i will pick up the phone and call a friend or visit a friend that i know will make me laugh and feel better. If they are not available i will go to my grandmothers house and my family over there are loving.Sometimes i will listen to my favorite songs or watch a movie.

When I am feeling down, getting out of the house and keeping busy helps me feel better. My doctor had always said that staying in the house too much will make most everybody feel down so I will go for walks or window shopping or just drive around. Spending time with family and friends also helps me when I am feeling down.

I too like the idea of "window shopping" but I feel getting inside the shop is better..I get my buggy and push it around all the aisles..Sometimes, in my jog, I pick up something..but many times I go home from the walmart with nothing:)+

When I'm feeling sad I can always count on my dog "Ike" to make me feel better. Whether it be just laying down and talking with him, watching him play with a toy, or taking him for a walk, everything seems to get a little better when I'm down (yes this is a dog I'm talking about!), hehe. A weakness I have for making myself feel better is by eating comfort foods, this is not something I encourage though!

They say .."a dog is a man's best friend" I can't have a dog right now; but I believe what you say..Dog's do bring a smile right away..they are naturally goofy at times:)+

When I'm down, I sometimes go out with my friends and try to have fun with them to forget my problems. If I can't help it anymore, I try to get myself drunk just to ease my mind. Sometimes it helps, but mostly not!;)

Getting drunk is not the answer as it lifts you to a high that's not normal and then drops you so much the lower..Friends are indeed mood lifters..You can always come in here..we will try to make you smile;)+

I don't have an animal anymore..it always used to be my sweet dog..but when I'm down I really try to look at my life and realize how blessed I am..I have a loving husband and 2 very wonderful adult children..and 2 Super grandsons....a great job and wonderful friends...even with all that there are times I worry about my husband's health and get really depressed...then I have to go inside myself and really do some deep thinking...when I'm in this mood I can't share it with my children as I don't want them to begin worrying about him also...I try to rely on my faith and the strength I can gain from it...but there are times when I feel really alone in this situation...when I had a dog he always knew when I was "blue"...it was sort of a distraction to have him whine and paw at me..like your cat , he wouldn't stop until I acted happier!!! They are amazing how they sense when things are wrong...I pray when I am in such a state...I pray for all those that are way worse off than I...God bless you and I hope you are smiling again...Life has it's moments of despair...but all in all ...Life is Good!!!! BE well.....

Thank you for your very beautiful testimony and I do believe remembering God's blessings..helps you to rise above things..My cats are one of God's blessings..and missy especially seems to have a real gift for reminding me of how little are the things that upset us. She makes me forget them so fast..and I thank God for all the blessings he has put into mylife..especially my kitties and friends.

Children have the irresistable way about them; don't they..Little ones have that freshness and purity and innocence that seems to bring calm and happiness to any situation.

Aw, I'm so glad that your kitty is there to comfort you when you're feeling sad! I love that so much about animals, how sensitive they seem to be to our emotions - how they know when we're hurt, whether emotionally or physically, and want to be near us and help us in any way that they can. It's just so sweet! ^_^
When I'm feeling down, I really need people around me. I just need people's words to make me feel better - nothing else can do it as easily as that. In fact, when I was feeling down before I posted a topic on the site and had so many people being so kind to me and helping to cheer me up, about 2-3 weeks ago now. It was probably my favorite day of all of the days that I've spent here on this site, and now i feel so much closer to so many great people here. ^_^
Anyway, if I can't find anyone to talk to to help cheer me up, I will usually find a favorite television program and sit down and get immersed in it. That helps a lot, too, if I can't find anyone to talk to about my problems. ^_^
