How many of you have eavesdropped on another telephone as your family member/friend was having a conversation? Did you hear anything good? Were you caught? Have you ever been eavesdropped on? By who and what was your reaction? Why do you think people eavesdrop anyways?

I don't think people should eavesdrop just for the fun of it or just to be nosy. That is rude, wrong, and none of your business. But there are some circumstances that warrant eavesdropping or snooping, if you will - when you need to know the truth and can't find our any other way. When my son was a teenager and I knew he was running with the wrong crowd. I eavesdropped on his telephone conversations long enough to confirm what I was thinking. He has a son of his own now and he tells me he appreciates what his father and I did for him. He says we saved him from getting into a lot of trouble and he will do the same for his son.
