i dont think the same way you think... God is great! He doesn't force man to do what He wants. Because of His greatness He created man with a free will to choose. God wants man to choose Him. When God created Adam, God place him in front of the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The tree of life signifies God HImself while the tree of knowledge of good and evil signifies Satan.. Before man made a choice, God warn Him not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil before he will surely die. God even told the consequence of eating & choosing the wrong tree. But man choose to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil...we should not blame God because man is the one who has the fault.man is stubborn.he did not listen to what God said...

I think the Bible has only one understanding in general. I do agree that it can apply differently to each individual, but overall there is only one way to interpret each verse. All of us have our own "tree of knowledge", something placed in our lives that is tempting and that will cause us to sin if we give in. God placed that temptation for Adam and Eve because he gave human beings free will. The free will to accept God or to reject Him. No one wants a friend that their parents has provided some incentive to be our friend. The strongest believers are those who CHOOSE to believe, not the ones who have no other choices. Again, I believe that in general, there is only one right answer, but each person experiences that right answer differently in their lives. God created each one of us as unique and distinct and therefore we will not all have the same experiences, even with the Bible.

I think there are still some mysteries to the Bible that we may not understand until we are with God. That is the essence of faith, that we can still believe even though we don't always understand.
