I'd go for Intel, but they're more expensive. Also depends on how demanding you're going to be with the PC.

AMD has been best when it comes to games becouse of AMDs arcitechture, and Intel as been best at predictable operations like encoding... With Intel new conroe series however, tables have turned and Intel is best overall... Intels conroe cpu is not that expensive either, considering the cpus price/quality ratio... However, AMD has lowered the prices on their dual core cpu's to the almost insane If you're looking for the best at a reasonable price, go for Intels Conroe series... If you're looking for a very good cpu, but still wanna save some bucks, go for AMDs dual core cpu's (like the 3800+, have it myself and i can't complain)...

i'm a hardcore fan of amd processors. they are cheaper, they are faster and they rocks all the time. my experience says this all. i've 2 internet+gaming cafes in my city. 1 cafe is having eight intel p4 based systems and on the other hand i've eight amd athlon 64 based systems. for me intel sux in power consumption, its cost to performace ration is very poor. on the other hand amd processors run smoother, efficiently, light on power and extreme performance at very low costs. i'm in hardware field for almost 3 years and i've seen a lot about amd and intel processors. the common missconcept about amd processors is they overheat. its absolutely wrong. in my cafes, intel runs on about 60-70 degree celcius where amd processors run at around 45-55 degree celcius. amd processors are way better than intel processors in many ways. and dont need to prove them as i'm watching them performing in my cafes. you have to decide what you like. i just told you my experience.

i prefer AMD since i am using one.I use AMD because --comparatively cheap --high performance --high stabilty --greater support for gaming i recommned AMD FX 64 bit computing. It has many advantage over intel pentium 4 processors.but i heard that intel pentium duo core2 is much better than other precedures and a like performance with AMD 64.so i f you are going to buy a new computer either you go for AMD FX 64 or Pentium 4 Duo core 2.

In my view it is Intel, its simply the best takes less power and superb performence and best suitable for all types of mother boards, where as if you use AMD its also the best but takes much power , heats faster, not suitable for all kind of moter boards, also you need to have good RAM to support the processors otherwise the overall syStem rate will be down if you use AMD.If demographicall speaking as for the Indian conditions you should always go for Intel processor, because of its slow heating feature, in India weather conditions are hot and the Intel processor can support the heat, but if you take a AMD processor there may be chances that your system may hangup because of the overheat.
