Concerning French Grammar, how many tenses are there?

Just like English, French has lots of tenses, but as far as you are concerned at Standard Grade, life is not so complicated. What you need to be able to use is a small set of tenses: ·- The present tense ·- The immediate future (this just means using ?je vais?, plus an infinitive) ·- The perfect (the past tense which starts off with ?j?ai ?or ?je suis?, and adds a past participle) ·- The imperfect in some of its forms (C?était, for it was, and so on) ·- You could also use the conditional for one or two verbs, as in ?je voudrais? ?
