Missing Period; What happened to it?

Ok, I am now going into my fourth month of not having a period. Now I did not have very regular ones in the first place, they were alway between 35 days to months long. Now I have not had one since October 24th. I have taken so many pregnancy tests I would go broke if I had not bought the at the dollar store. Now there were times that there were lines the past 2 months but they were so faint my husband called them the indentions or a shadow???? Now I take two today the first came back positive right and then I took one right after it and there was the faint line thing again...I can see it mind you, but it is very faint. My mom never could get a posistive result from all seven of her children, but with my first child it came back positive with me being just 2 days late. Could I be pregnant or just having problems with my period?? I also had very light spotting on Jan 28th and 29th and that was only in the morning?? I just don't get what is happening. I have called to set a apt with a OB, but the soonest I could get in is in a few weeks. If I am not pregnant do I have to worry about hemorging like a stupid nurse told me or I do I have nothing to worry about? I am very, very worried right now about that part. I would not mind being pregnant at all, but if I am not I don't want to have to bleed so much that I would have to go to the ER, ya know??? Please, if you have experienced please put my mind to rest either way. Thanks A very worried Cateyes.

It is possible that you are pregnant. Sometimes pregnancy doesnt show up in a normal test. In 99, i really had a struggle with that. I had 7 different pee tests, and they all said negative, BUT, I knew I was pregnant. So then they had to check for my pregnancy through a blood test. You did not mention if you had taken any blood tests, I would ask the doctor for a blood test. I think you are possibly pregnant. For me it was over four months before i actually found out for sure, although I was pretty sure the whole time. You also never mentiond whether or not you had taken any kind of birth control. Depo Provera can really mess the periods up. I took one shot and it lasted for 18mnths. And you are supposed to take that by getting 4 shots a year. The patch can mess up your system, too. If that is the case, you may have to get a d&c or something. Or they may put you on a pill form of birth control, to regulate your period. I have 4 kids, and it was only the second pregnancy that was like that. And that happened to me after i had taken a depro provera shot, 18 months previous. I was right the whole time, and the baby came according to my schedule. So that may have something to do with it too. I hope this helps you a little. Good Luck.

You need a blood test talk to your doctor, and guessing that you have irregular periods you could have PCOS, you need to talk to the doctor and get blood test it tell you once and for all if your pregnant.

I have the same experience with pregnancy tests. I used to buy everything the store had to be sure since come of them come out very faint and light but it turned out that I was positive. I think as long as you see a line (whether a faint or not), that means you are. Congratulations if you are=). Anyway, there's no perfect way to know it unless you go to a doctor. How about you go to the ER, tell them what you're experiencing and tell them that you could be possibly bleeding while pregnant. Another way is that I had a urine pregnancy test as well as a blood test in the hospital to determine if I am pregnant or not. I forgot the name of the blood test, I'll research on that again...but these are I think 100% sure, I hope you do can get this. Goodluck.

i went threw sorta the same thing but my went only two months without coming. i took two pregnancy tests both came back negative. i was gaining weight like crazy and getting nausea. i just knew the pregnancy tests were wrong. but come to find out it was only stress causing it. if your under stress that could be one reason for you being so late. but if you got back one positive result most likely you are. there are some hospitals that give free pregnancy tests and they are always accurate. try calling around to the ones in your area and see if they offer them. or you could even call you gynecologists office and get you an appointment because if your not pregnant you should really be checked. i hope everything turns out fine for you

Missing Period?some times it's not just due to pregnant and some disease. you emotional also can cause you to not have your period on regular basis. (such as too stress etc). The best thing, i would suggest you to go for any GP that have scan (i don't know the real name of the machine) and let's them tell you what really cause you missing your period. and for the pregnancy test, it's only detect hormone and not the baby it's self. so it's may some time give false negative. That way it's recommended to have the test when you just wake up from your sleep. here, not even we just can give and opinion, the doctor also can't give the right answer by just an online diagnosis. Good Luck.

I am sorry for your discomfort and concern. But, the more you stress and worry, that may add to the problem. I know it is almost impossible not too, but stress can cause a delay. Call the doctor again, and tell him of your concerns, perhaps they can move up your appointment. You should not have to wait so long. I do hope you will be okay dear. Let us know. I will pray for you. Blessings, M&M

Spotting can be normal is pregnacy is occuring, it is the baby settling into the lining. In your case I think that it could be the imbalance of hormones. Due to your stress and medications. I hope that the OB is knowledgeable and catches the truth if you are not pregnant. Good luck with this. Best of health is my wish for you and yours.

If there is an advice centre near you i would attend that. Failing that I would try to relax until you have seed the doc. In the meantime if you have any problems go to your casualty department and explain that you may be pregnant.

I'm wondering if you have a public health clinic in your area. Ours here offers free pregnancy tests. No waiting for an appointment at all. I don't blame you for being worried. Not knowing is the worst part. The sooner you can get answers the faster you can deal with it. There are all sorts of reasons that you could be missing your periods but the obvious of course is pregnancy. Although I've used the home tests before; I feel much more comfortable going into the health clinic and having them run the tests.

I've never experienced and for a 27 year old, it sounds like you just may be pregnant. I doubt anything is wrong with you. Just wait until you go to the doctor so you get a true result. It's hard for us to diagnose....in fact, it's impossible.

A line is a line - regardless of how faint it is. Go to your doctor - make the appointment now so that you have it. If your period shows up before the appointment, cancel the appointment, if not ask them to do a pregnancy test - a blood one, not a Pee-on-a-stick one. Their urine tests are just as accurate as the ones we can get over the counter. You don't have to worry about hemorrhaging unless you're actually bleeding... And bleeding a lot. I'd get that nurses name and report her for being an fear-mongering idiot.

I would say that there's a 99% chance you are pregnant i've always been told no matter how faint the second line is if there is one there then you are pregnant.I'd get off to the doc's soon for all the tests and information etc when your having a baby. Good Luck

Go to your regular doctor and have them test you and exam you. They shold be able to get you in sooner.. maybe even today. Explain what is happening and that you're worried. DOn't fret too much yet... Get the facts first. Worrying will not help just cause more stress- which can mess with your menstral cycle. 4 months without a period.. I'm willing to bet you're pregnant-- and if you are Congrats!

I would go to the doctor and have them order a blood pregnancy test. They are more accurate and would put your mind at ease. It's possible that you have PCOS or Endometreosis (SP?). A cycle can be thrown off for any number of reasons. Before I lost a lot of weight I had maybe 2-3 periods a YEAR. My body just wouldn't function like it should. I was also diagnosed Hypo-thyroid (which can also throw cycles off) as well as PCOS. The second test might have been negative if you took it right after the first one because you might have already gotten rid of the horomone that it is looking for. A blood test would rule out pregnancy and they could check your thyroid and such while they "have the needle in your arm" as my doctor says. Good luck!

I have never heard about hemorraghing. That's new to me. I would just ask your doctor if you can get some paperwork for blood work because you keep on receiving faint positives but you aren't sure if you are pregnant. They should let you do that before they see you. A lot of doctors won't see you the first few weeks you are pregnant but mine will let me do the whole pee tests and blood tests.

I would say that you are pregnant, my sister did a test and the line was very very faint and it turned out she was pregnant and had a boy in august 2006. I however suffer from Polycystic ovarian syndrome and i havent had a period for 15 months. hope all goes well for you whatever the outcome.

I had the same problem for years and I know what you are going thru. You might be pregnant and the best thing is to go to the doctor when your appointment comes around, but so many things can effect your periods. Stress can cause you to miss periods and so can changes in diet. Worrying about things, like being or not being pregnant, can also take its toll on you. If you are not experiencing any pain then I would say to try not to worry until you get to the doctor, but if you are having pain or the worry is too much then go to the ER for help as soon as possible.
