i set up an account for my little sister and yesterday mum noticed that someone was talking to her. All this person said was 'I like your name!' and mum chucked a nut. She said that if she'd known that you could chat while playing WoW she wouldn't have let my sister play it. I tried to explain to her that you have to pay to play WoW so everyone who's playing is concentrating on the game. I've never had any weirdos say anything to me before..do you think my mother should be worried about my sister playing it? She's 8 years old.

I think 8 is too old to be playing WOW without supervision. This is an adult game, and it has violent situations, and other adults in the game who may use vulgar language. I play a different online roll playing game, and there is too much adult conversation for an 8 year old to be present. I think you can find better games that are mode EDUCATIONAL and suited for an 8 year old.

I would have to say your mother's concerns are valid. Although there are many children playing the game, the majority of the folks I encounter and "run with" during game play are adults. I try very hard to discern the children in the game especially since I had a young one running BRD with me and my team once. He whispered to me he was frightened and that was why he "froze" during combat. After speaking with him in whispers a bit more, I learned he was around the age of your little sister. I think your Mom would be wise to set ground rules for your little sister to follow when she plays the game. Lokaine Draka Realm

I think your mothers concern is warranted. There are a lot of dodgy people on the net, and I wouldn't let my 8 year old talk to strangers either.

The only setback you should worry about is having your 8 year old sister addicted to the game. You can actually tell your little sister not to talk to strangers on that game and tell her never to reveal her identity. It's just like in the real world, you just have to watch how she plays the game.

i think your mom is the nut no offense but just because someone said one thing like is no reason to make someone stop playing. like whats so bad about that. world of warcraft is an awsome game and if you want to play you should be aloud with out any restrictions.
