I live in a city where billboards are pitched up all over the place. Sometimes, I noticed some of these huge billboards would obstruct my view on the oncoming traffic. Morever, one cannot help but to look at these advertising boards as they have rather attractive captions or images.
Do you feel that such billboards are more a danger than informative? What would you suggest of methods to reduce or eliminate the danger of such distractions?

In our place we did have such a situation where billboards are placed on our major roads. We have had a very bad experienced with it though. Not only did it affect traffic, but when we were hit by a very strong typhoon those gigantic billboards just folded like cardboards damaging a lot of properties and also it claimed some lives when it felled on cars passing by those billboards. That is why the local governments has suggested that all billboard on major roads are to be dismantled. But then owners have protested against it. So until now they still stand tall on the roads as they have successfully blocked the plans of dismantling them.

Yea i think they're a distraction. they are so unneeded. one of my friend's dad's almost got into a car accident because he was reading a billboard. they are much more dangerous than what is informed. i would hope to see less billboards in the future but i really don't know what you can do about it.

They can be a distraction but I think people just need to be more responsible while they're driving and most of these near accidents would be avoided. It's not like they're printing paragraphs up there, most of the time you can just glance up and get the idea. If there's heavy traffic, then don't take your eyes off the road. But if traffic is light, then there's nothing wrong with glancing up and reading them.
