Passing the examination is to indicate that you have understood the subject and you are reasonably well versed in it. But in reality, the jobs are given on the basis of examination certificate rather than choosing the real merit of the candidates.

im a person who dosent believe in xams or marks......maily coz there are a lot of factors invlvd in passin an xam..and it always aint depended on how much u studied......its da luck factor that turned me against xams or marks for dat reason

Well in high school yes, in college for me not really. My courses had a lot of papers, homework, projects, quizzes that help with grades so if I got a bad grade on exam my other grades would make up for it.
