Do you own any wrist bands purchased on behalf of a cause?

Most every cause out there anymore seems to have a wristband you can purchase, usually for a dollar to show your support. Started by the yellow bands created by cancer survivor Lance Armstrong, there are so many colors and meanings out there.
Which bands have you purchased? What color? What do they symbolize?
I've had the yellow Armstrong one for cancer, a pink one for breast cancer, a red one for a local girl who they were trying to raise money for, a red one for giving blood.

I have a wrist band (brown) which says COUGARS for my school's mascot. The money I paid for it went to paying for stamps and letters for US soldiers in Iraq to send christmas cards/letters home to families.

Yes I do own a wrist band purchased on behalf of a cause the cause was to raise money for cancer, I did purchase a yellow wrist band this was due to my father dying due to cancer. That is very nice of you to purchase them as well but for many years now I have not seen any of these people around that used to sell these bands I loved them and they were for a great cause but if I see them around again next time I will of course buy more.

I have a pale blue one that I bought (the kids each have one too) to help "keep kids warm" it was a program back in the fall that was goin on to buy less fortunate kids winter jackets etc....but I am planning on buying a pack of braclets from ONE as well as some "Declaration" necklaces from RAINN AND a Me&Ro necklace from the Joyful Heart Foundation...I'd like to get some shirts too from each place as well actually...definately for me but also for the kiddies and probably a "one" shirt for my husband..The only reason I've not yet is simply because I get so iffy about donate to org's like that ya know..I mean these are 3 very high rep org's but even so there is that part of me that gets overly cautious i guess you could say

Well I don't but my neice does..well did the cats like to play with them when they find them. They have a tendency to leave them in pieces. They don't eat them just toss them around and catch them on things so they tear. She's had just about every color you can think of and even one or two with several colors. I couldn't tell you what all they stood for now. I think they are cute and they are reasonable so I don't mind getting them for her. Just wish she'd learn to keep them in a drawer.

I have many.
I have a:
-red that I got from church that says until each one is home. They gave them out for free to members.
-green that says girl scouts.
-tie dye WWJD to remind me try to do what Jesus would do.
-A blue SOS to remember the Solders Over Seas.
-Two more tie-dyed that remind me of the children I bought the same for to send in shoeboxes at Christmas. I got a mostly blue and a mostly pink for the boys and the girls.
I love them. I do not wear them much because they are easy to break at work.

yes, I have a blue one. The Duke University basketball coach's (Coach K) wife commissioned the bracelet and the proceeds go to a children's facility in the Durham area. I am a huge Duke basketball fan and the bracelet has 'Go Duke' and 'Bluedevils' on it.

I had a camo green one for awhile. A friend of mine gave it to me. It's in support of our troops. He's in Iraq now and I wish I could find it. I think that one of my children got a hold of it.

OK hockeygal, I kind of feel like a schmuck here. I only see these for sale at the corner gas station, so I never buy them. I have seen a blue one around my house, and it was for the high school. I'm seriously striking out here, aren't I?? If I ever see a pink one or one for a good cause, I'll get one and remember this discussion while I'm keeping an eye out for those peanut BUTTER M & M's!! :)

LOL... that's ok. They're not as "popular" as they once were. When they first came out , Lance Armstrong made them popular, and you couldn't find them anywhere. ALL of his proceeds went to the foundation he started because he personally ate the startup costs. He originally made something like 5 million and didn't think they would ever run out. He was so very wrong!
The wrist bands are probably right next to that one lonely bag of peanut butter M&M's! lol

I have seen on the internet and on tv many people wearing them but I don't see it at all in my area. Where are they getting them from?

My sister had these made as favors for the guests at her wedding. They have her and her hubby's name and the date they were married on them. I have to say mine is still in the bottom of my purse. I thought it was a cute idea, but have to admmit a little strange since these bracelets have become a symbol for different causes.

Yeah, they were definitely a "trend" for just about everything for a while.

well i have the redcross one purchased while participating in their blood donation drive. but its not a wrist band but a black lanyard type with crosses on them. rest are just friendship band and a father's day bands that my dotter gave me. the best thing i felt to do always is to buy those CRY cards with a view to support the children all over the globe as much as i can. although my buying a few cards everytime may not sufficient the needs of all those children but yes its a great feeling that i am doing whatever best i can.
