Most of the problems should be with the computer or hardware or something else. A type of trojan would show itself on your wallpaper, saying, this computer has been infected with a virus install spyware remover.
I Don't need an anti-virus.
I have a Defense Shield made by Hackers. I know real life buddies.
I CAN KNOW VIRUS CODE WHEN I SEE it. gosh.
Everybodys saying Virus whenever some guy is just saying This
"I just a bought a new video Card! But I gotta install it soon!"
"NO! You got a virus!"
"no I DON'T! Iam just gonna install driver!"
See What I mean?
One of the oldest anti-viruses was Norton.
Back in 2000, Virus Writers competed each other on who can
infect the most computers.
Norton Stoped it all. but now it opened door for other companys as well.
So VIRUSES AREN'T EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM A COMPUTER HAS.

You are right, not all problems are caused by virus or spyware. Hardware itself may malfunction. And most normal softwares have bugs, they may be the reason why a system goes awry suddenly. But virus are also horrible, they may wipe out important data in you hard disk, they destroy the modules needed by many programs in turn making your system unstable.
