Are there special songs your kids love you to sing to them?

I had some and they were strange variety, but my kids loved them. "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" was probably their favorite. While "Mamma Look a Booboo", by Harry Belefonte always made them laugh. Another they loved to try, and I guess it helped their diction was Rolf Harris singing "The Court of King Caractus" I have now have these songs on my hard drive, and the memories they bring back when I play them are just so precious, albeit over thirty years have passed. Please, tell me some of yours.

I can really relate to this discussion because my 3 years old son was eager to play the dvd that is full of nursery rhymes and what he loves the most is the itsy bitsy spider, old mcdonald has a farm, london bridge, oh! I can really fill the vacant space to name all the nursery rhymes. Well I guess I really have to keep this dvd tape because I will surely miss this when he grew up and when he starts to court a girl lol!

You may find, the same as I did, that your 3 y o will love, and learn from those nursery rhymes, but he will take to a song you sing more fondly. My kids used to request the songs I mentioned, and some others, when I was bathing them. These songs always made them laugh, even when they were in a sombre mood. Maribel, enjoy your son, and remember your special moments now are your memories of the future, so cherrish them. Good luck to you and your family.

My father used to sing old love songs as my lullabye when he lest me sleep when i was a baby. It was an old Filipino love song, that when i learned how to speak we would sing it together. I was my papas girl and its very sad to think that i will be singing it alone since the day he left us. Sigh, tears just come flooding from my eyes every time I talk about father. Well, im glad my spiritual father Almighty is always there for me. I know He wipes evry tear from my eyes and help me cure my broken heart and there always to comfort me in those paidful times in my life.

Like your discussions your responses are directly from your heart. It's sad when we lose someone special, and even though my father departed over thirty years ago it still makes me sad to think about his parting. But then I remember some of the wonderful times we had together, and I'm happy again.

Well I don't have any children as I am a student. But I was thinking that some parents wouldn't sing to their children because the can't sing or can't be bothered to. I think singing is a great way for children to learn diction (as you said) and new words. Also it introduces them to a simple stage of music at an early age. This may encourage a muscal ability or musical interest later in life. And we all know how important music is. You kids may listen to those songs in the future and feel the way you feel about them.

Thanks for a very intelligent response. Music makes for indelible memories, and I'm going to email these songs to my kids and see if they can remember them.

Surprise! Surprise! I didn't expect anyone to respond to this due to the obscure nature of the three songs, but to have someone know the words is great. Delany's Donkey also brings back memories. Now I've got to search for some Val Doonican music. Thanks.
