A Boy with Leukemia

Here's the story... He's a 7 yr. old boy from Ontario with an acute form of Leukemia. His only wish is to be in the Guiness book of world records for the person to have received the most birthday cards ever. I believe I read that the present record is 350 million birthday cards to one person. All I know is that if I could, I would send him all 350 million of them. His story has been told on the radio and apparently the news out there, so I'm gathering he's already started to receive some. Anyhow, I thought I would let you know in case you'd like to send him some or even just one. Oh, and by the way his birthday is May 30th, and here's the address to send them to: Shane C/O Kiss FM 2001 Thurston Dr. Ottawa, Ontario K1G 6C9 For the cost of a stamp you can really help to make this little boy happy. I sent two out yesterday. One from me and one from my 9 year old. I signed it my name and where I'm from cause I thought he would be really interested in seeing where all they have come by. If you can open your heart for this little guy that would be great. Please forward this to everyone you know so that we can work at making his dream come true.

I am going to forward this to a few friends and a person that works at my local radio station. He might be able to give it a mention and get some more people on board. I'll have to remember to grab some air mail stamps and send out a few cards. 350 million cards, I do pity that poor postal carrier!

And for anyone who might be cynical and think this is a scam, it is not and you can read about it here: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/medical/bernier.asp

Thanks Sue for finding this on Snopes and showing that it is a true story. I myself knew it was true because it came from a friend of mine who lives in his town but I'm glad you put the article out there for everyone to see. Thanks also for putting it on your blogs and forums. I appreciate it and so will he.

That is nice of you to post this. I am going to copy it and post it on myspace (hope you don't mind) I really don't know how much postage to put on something being mailed to Canada, but I guess I could ask at the postoffice.

Great of you to post this on here. I have already sent my card even though his birthday is not until May. I am sure the radio station will hold onto the cards until then, or maybe not. At any rate, it's a great thing to do for a kid.

Yeah they have said not to wait until May and that the local radio station is collecting them now. I mailed mine last week.

Thank you for sharing this with us...I will go out today and purchase a card for him from myself and my son also.. The little things we do to others really do brighten their days...I know the cards alone would make him very happy and make him feel even more special than he is.. Again thank you for sharing this with us..Excellent Topic...

Thanks MzBubblie I really appreciate it. It means so much to me to see this little guy happy. It sounds like he has endured so much in his short little life.

Oh that is a really lovely idea. I will definately be more than happy to help Shane with a card from the UK. I will actually be in France the week before his Birthday, so maybe I can send him one from there too? So sad to see young kids suffering so, Thanks for bringing this to our attention here on MyLot.
