Its time to leave...what do you say?

When you think it's time for someone to leave your home, do you come right out and say it or try to make subtle hints?

My best response is: Well the wife and I are going to bed, please turn out the lights and lock the door on your way out.

i don't like to hurt people's feelings, so i either try to hint saying stuff like "wow it's getting late. i sure am tired" if that doesn't work, then i give my boyfriend "the look" and he will kick them out
