Eating raw meat by mistake? Hmmmm, I'm not really sure how this would happen. I usually look at my food to make sure it is cooked properly before diving right in. I also think this is a good habit because you can get sick from eating certain raw or undercooked food. There are plenty of dishes out there that are made with raw meat, but I'd like to think that most people ask what they are eating if something is new or unfamiliar to them. I will also say that I have eaten raw meat on purpose. I also have had carpaccio and sushi. In some cultures, eating raw meat is quite common. People just need to make sure that things are fresh.

Ummm...It wasn't wexactly by mistake...in fact it was totally on purpose! There are a few raw meat dishes that I really like...but I am always very careful to only eat raw meat from reputable places. And only raw beef. NEVER pork or polutry, that is just asking to get very very sick. One of my favorite raw met dishes is carpaccio. It's raw beef sliced paper thin, and then drizzled with olive oil. It also has capers, sea salt, sometimes lemon and slivers of parmesean cheese (the king of cheeses). Also it's a family tradition when making meatballs to taste the mixture before cooking the meatballs. This way you know it's seasoned properly. I know this is seems really weird, but it's just a tiny pinch, and no one has ever gotten sick doing it. We always use really fresh ingredients. I think meat processing has come a long way and it's more safe to eat it raw (In small amounts) these days.

yuk yuk yuk, just the thought of this turns my stomach. I can't imagine how that could be something you could do by mistake. I don't eat meat at all now, just the thought of eating something that is rotting is a horrible thought.
