If so what do you take for them? I am on imatrex. I tried topamax but it caused me to have a seziure. I use to take another one that starts with a z but I amm on imetrx.sometimes mine last for a long time. Does anyone have any good remides for them? Besides laying in a dark room and sleeping?

I suffer from migranes very very badly. I have tried to prescription medicines but they all make me ill and they are not safe during pregnancy. I took the over the counter medicine called excedrin for migranes and this works sometimes, but now that I am pregnant I am forced to find other ways to cope. I breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth this helps a little. Sometimes I try and do some slow yoga and meditation and this actually WORKS!! I couldn't believe it but it relaxes your body to the point where your migrane just sort of fades away. If this doesn't work I go to my only happy place...A quiet dark place!!!

I have suffered from headaches and migraines all my life. I know how miserable it can be. Usually no matter what I do I have to take a nap in a dark room, doesn't matter what medication I use. Imatrex never did work for me. The best I found was midrin. It's an older medication but it works. It gets rid of the migraine. Now before I take it I do try to get rid of it in other ways. I put bengay on my temples and the back of my neck, that can sometimes get rid of it if I catch it early enough. If not I take the midrin and then curl up in bed. After a couple of hourse I feel great. If I didn't take the midrin I wouldn't have been able to sleep let alone feel better.

The brain is something that Dr's still dont know much about. It is a mystery to them. It is amazing, they can work on a hear with not problems but not the head. They are limited to what they can do to the head. The other med you were on that started with a Z was it zomig?
topamax is a siezure medicine. Imatrex is just for migraines. Are you taking the pill or injection?
I have been on everything. Nothing works for me. I have had a headache since 1986. It does not go away. Sometimes it gets unbearable and I have to go to ER for injection of pain meds. I also get an hour of IV therapy every 3 weeks. Pain is a funny thing. But know that you are not alone.
Dark room with no noise or smells is about all you can do on your own for it.

I get migraines so bad. I literally have to leave work hours early because a migraine strikes. Sometimes I can actually tell the day before I get a migraine, that I am going to have one. I have been on prescription meds for them but they only make me nauseated and throw up. I have migraines for days at a time. I can just lay in a dark room with a cold washcloth on my forehead. I can't sleep, I just lay there restlessly and feel helpless. I have tried just about every suggestion I have ever received but nothing has helped. I am sorry that you suffer from migraines. Hope you feel better soon.

Yeah I use to have to leave work to when I did work or before I knew I had ms. My nero swears that ms is not what causes it. I have had them for over 48 hours myself so I understand you. I am sorry the medications don't help they don't always help me either.
