I just can't understand Michael was able to hide the blueprints of the prison in his tattoos. How come the blueprints become visible during some scenes, but in most scenes they're not?

it's because michael is a genius. he has a disease called low latent inhibition. if you have this disease and has a low IQ you will become mentally ill BUT if you have this disease and has a high IQ you will become a genius. people with low latent inhibition see things differently. normal people see things from what they are but if you have low latent inhibition you see things more clearly and more detailed.

The blueprints are highlighted for our benefit, it's the same as the use of zooms to show us what is being used or done. The images of the tattoos continue to be invisible unless you can focus and follow the print like Haywire did, being a mathematical genius they show him following the patterns and seeing the image behind what is seen. If you know what you looking for then you can see the underlying pattern, this is like those 3D images that where popular a few years back. It is fun though and trying to find the images yourself.

When I introduce prison break to my friend and explan to him about the tattoo on michael,s back,he felt difficult to understand why the prsion police did not notice that. I explained that the escape line was hidden in that tattoo, but when i see it carefully i can,t figure it out of that line may be only the user and desigener can understant it.

Michael is a genius so maybe he is the only one who can understand the tattoos and that is actually the point (the other characters and the guards should't be able to suspect that the tattoos are blueprints).

I'm not sure which episode, but there is one where Michael is designing the tattoos. He has drawn images around the diagrams and has used tracing paper in order to get them to the same scale. He is a genius, its not as if he has had the blueprints printed straight onto his body. In real life he would have spent months putting those designs together. As for them becoming visible in some scenes, I feel it is just to give the viewers an idea of how well they are hidden. We are seeing the tattoos how they are seen through his eyes. Without the guidance it would just be a load of pictures and words jumbled up together.

i think they reveal it only when the blueprints are required.... but its hard to believe that directors can be so faulty
