The simple answer is YES. I understand your reason for asking the question since politics is a subject that people hold very strong views about. There are several controversial subjects that often fire up a person's emotions, and religion is the other major category. There is absolutely nothing wrong with holding a discussion on any of these topics because this is intended to be a forum.
