I used to sell on ebay and quit about a month ago , well anyway I was scammed by a buyer who returned an item for refund and sent me back an item that was not the item I sent them. Well they filed a complaint with paypal and that sometimes takes a while . well they have started calling me at home and telling me that I am going to send them their money now and i said that we had to wait on paypal and he was like oh i do not know about that so the 2nd time he called and said he was going to sue me and get me for about $5000.00 because of him having to fly here and time etc. I still said that he needed to wait on paypal and that i did not know what else to do that i was not going to send him money while he had a paypal case going because then he might get double the money or whatever. i am scared

Time to inform Paypal and Ebay of this harrassment. Ebay should be good about this. They have a whole section that deals with this stuff. Get his phone number and get the police involved to protect you and your family. Time to let the machine pick up the calls and get this recorded! Good luck with this. Please keep me posted!

i contacted ebay and paypal but the form said it could take up to 48 hours for them to reply. when he called me he blocked his number so that it did not show on my id so i cannot block it from my line. he called again today , but i did not answer it. i do not know what he is wanting from me. he filed a complaint with paypal and then thinks i will send him more money.

I wouldn't quit eBay altogether --this is something that I've never heard of before. Ebay might already be aware of who he is... I put "all sales final" when I sell something. Also, if they don't opt for the "insurance", I pay it myself, just to be sure they can't say they never got it. How much money are we talking about here?

Like the others say hun, report this guy to eBay for harrassment. Can I also suggest that you post a note of this onto eBay Question & Answer help boards, there are loads of experts there who can advise you and give you the links needed to report.

Call ebay at 1-800-322-9266 and give them your ebay user ID and the auction number you are having problems with. Be sure to tell what happened and how they are harassing you. Then call PAYPAL at their Customer Service Center. PayPal Customer Service Agents are available to help you from 7:00 AM EST to 1:00 AM EST every day. For general PayPal account inquiries, please call us toll-free at: 1-888-221-1161 For security reasons, they must verify the following details before discussing any account-specific information: Your telephone number Your email address The last 4 digits of your credit card or bank account registered with PayPal

It is unfortunate that this person has resorted to harassing you by phone. You have have resources through Paypal and Ebay that should be able to settle this dispute over the merchandise. Make sure you document any harrassment from this person for your own protection. I can't imagine that this person would actually fly to you town to confront you..that sounds a little crazy. Don't hesitate to call the authorities to let them know of this situation. Also, use the system Ebay has in place and alert other Ebay members about this person through the feedback system. One way to stop this person is to alert others so that no one will ever do business with him again.

The guy sounds like he is trying to bully you out of some money that is not his. Contact Ebay and papal and give them any email conversations you two have had. Take him off your email list, ebay list and paypal list. If he is calling you tell him not to call you again and if he does you will report him as harrasing you. He has no case. Dont worry about it. He just thinks he has an easy target and is trying to abuse his rights on ebay.

That stinks!!! I have attempted to sell on ebay but have had no buyers on the items i've placed up. Recently though we (my boyfriend and me) where scammed on some movies he had bought for me. The complaint was filed with paypal back at christmas time and we STILL haven't heard a thing. The movies we had bought where clearly cheap knockoffs and we provided all the proof and such, but i don't understand why it takes them so long to process the claims. Honestly, the guy sounds like a bully. You should be okay though. If you have a good standing account and such on ebay and all, you should be alright.

I would contact Ebay by phone, and somehow get a Documentation of these person's threats, etc. so that if they really are trying to scam you, you have the information to turn in. Also how did they get your phone number? I make sure to never give out my phone number to people I do not know, even if it is for Ebay purchases.

Oh this is horrible...Did you ask them why they sent you back the wrong item? call paypal and let them know this person wants an answer as soon as possible and you are already being harrased. You dont have to be scared if you didn't do anything wrong. Fight for your rights.

Have you contacted ebay and paypal about this persons phone calls? What has this person said about the fact that he didn't return the item he bought from you? I'm currious to know what ebay and paypal say about that. Do you have caller ID? If you do, I wouldn't answer any more of his calls. Good luck!

as long as you have kept the original info from ebay ie what you were selling and it doesn't match what was returned. you will have no problems. Get a stat dec signed by a jp of what is going on ie what you sold when the item was returned what was returned any communication etc you will be ok.

I would not be too worried, there are lots of scammers out there and if you have done the right things, then there should be nothing to worry about. I have to say that Paypal and Ebay help is not very helpful. They love to send you links that often seem to not to refer to your question. Or they seem to totally ignore what you ask. If you don't get any results and get too worried. I would contact their CEO. That normally gets them moving

If you do not have caller ID on your phone, get it. Then, do not answer when it is him calling. Why is he flying there? That is crazy. Lock your doors at all times. Maybe you could ask the police to watch your house. That is scary. If it isn't a lot of money maybe it would be worth it to pay him off.

This guy sounds like a jerk who is just trying to get something for nothing, and has nothing better to do with his time then to harass people and try to make them as miserable as he is. Anyhow, Like others have said I would contact ebay & paypal, file a harassment claim with ebay, record his calls & keep them just in case you were to need them, keep copies of any emails or messages he sends you, & print out a copy of your auction listing of what he actually bought from you & make sure that you have some kind of proof of what he sent back to you. And if you decide to use ebay again I would not that not refunds or returns are accepted and if soemone really needs one & you see just cause in the situation work with them on a private matter instead of letting just anyone be able to return & get refunded for whatever reason strikes their fancy. Good Luck

If you buy or sell on eBay - anyone you deal with can pull your contact details and your phone number [which you have to supply when you register your account] The idea is that you can get in contact with people if something goes wrong - but a lot of people use it for the wrong reasons.

Number 1 - don't be scared!! If you haven't already lodge a complaint with eBay about their behaviour. Do this now!!! Keep a log of any calls they make to you and keep any emails. Threatening members is a violation of their terms and conditions!! You are correct in waiting for the Paypal complaint to go through. If they are aware with not having returned the correct item and they are still persisting to try to get cash off you then it's their own fault. You didn't mention how much they paid for the item or what it actually is so I can't help you with ways to try to resolve this. Paypal can take months to go through - but they WILL contact you to ask for your side of the story etc. You will need to keep proof of posting in the first place, and also let them know when it was returned. Also - if you have no money in your paypal account even if the complaint is awarded in favour to your buyer they can't get any money from you. [If there is money in the account then it will vanish before your eyes]. Paypal will NOT give the buyer anymore money than what the item is worth. Just say they brought something off you for $100 ... they will get the money back for the item [not including postage] minus $20 or so that Paypal take for their administration fee. As far as I'm aware buyers are unable to sue people from eBay for not sending goods etc - because that's what the buyer protection is for! It's like having insurance for your car - if it goes missing you get a new one ... not sue the company that you brought it from in the first place. If you are finding their phone calls to you at home unbareable or extremely rude you can either have their number barred from ringing into your phone line or report it to the police as being harrassed. If you need more help then go to the member forums under help and tell them your story. It's easy to use and you get fantastic advice from people who may have actually been in your situation before. Unfortunately eBay is like everywhere else in life ... sometimes you have to deal with unpleasant people who believe they are always right. Also - you never mentioned if you've left feedback for the buyer or vice versa ... that's another thing all together though! Let me know how you get on! Good luck!

I think that you should write ebay and paypal. you should get all of your stuff together. if you have everything you may be able to proove you sold him something and then he asked for money and sent a different product back.
