I believe that yoga is good for the body, this is the reason why I have purchased 3 vcd's for beginners. Practice of yoga really burns calories as I excessively sweat during the excercises. As for the ayurvedic system I'm not very familiar with it. I am aware of the value of herbal medicine but, I know the practical application of only a few. There are some people who are very familiar as to what herbs are best for each ailment and emergency that may crop up. To think that I am into the cultivation of as many herbal plants as I can have, it is quite shameful to admit I do not have sufficient knowledge regarding the use of most of them.

yeah, maverick i believe in both, although i am not much into ayurvedic system, but recently i have started looking for more herbal cures, as these are free from side defects, and very soon i am sure i am going to make it a part of my life, and i have also switched to yoga, it really helps, although it has been a month only i have started practising yoga, i am sure i will be benefited from it, even diseases which are thought to be uncurable really gets cured by practice of yoga, it has recently emerged as a most beneficial form of exercise and people who doesnt get help from other fields are opting for it.

Ayurveda is a system of medical peactice, whereas yoga is some sort of a ritual more an occult practice. I appreciate Ayurveda as an effective meyhod of medical practice. The problem with Ayurveda is that the vast knowledge acquired in this fantastic method is not kept properly recorded. Gurus in ancient times taught their students by keeping them with themselves and transmit every knowledge to them verbally. Many secrets of the science were kept untold by many gurus for the reason that their students were not competant enough to acquire such secrets. This attitude caused the science great losses in continuity of studies. However the world now is more listening to Ayurveda and hance many organised researches are going on in several parts of the world in the field of this medical practice using medicinal herbs. There are several branches to the Indian system of medicines like Sidha, Marma etc. All are catching world wide attention now a days. Many US and EU countries have acquired patent of many medicinal plants. The quest for such patents are increasing. This shows the significance of the science in contemporory world.

I very much believe in Ayurveda and "natural" medicine. I respond to these types of treatment very well, and spend much time researching different types of alternative treatments for any ailment I may have. I don't practice hatha yoga, much, although I should, I feel it has alot of benefits for one who practices it regularly. Thank you for the link, I'll check it out.
