Disadvantages only? I'm an only child and I think it highly has to do with how the parents raise you. I "play" well with others, never had a problem sharing my barbies with my bestfriends growing up, and now as a grown up I can work well with others. My parents have spoiled me over the years to an extent, but not enough that I always think I can get anything I want or ask for. It's a stereotype that the only child gets anything they want and it's really not true. But disadvantages I found were being alone when I didn't have friends over and pestering my parents when I was bored. You're also the only one stuck with doing chores, however you don't have to share the allowence you earned. Being older now, I find it hard to be around little kids because I never had the experience of yelling and screaming older/younger siblings and how you deal with them. There's advantages and disadvantages, but it really depends on how the parents raise the only child. They need to teach them just because theres only one child that it doesn't mean they can get what they want anytime and as long as they socialize with other friends growing up, the sharing and getting along isn't really an issue and the parents should probably realize they might need to spend more time with them to make up for their loneliness (sp?) of being without siblings.

lack of sharing leads to lack of tolerance...and they will fail to face problems in the lif..

You are never taught to share...you spend many a lonely day cause you have no one to play with and parents give you things to avoid giving you what you want most...their time.

I am not the only child in my family and i wouldnt like to be. I think that i would feel like being alone. When you have a brother or a sister you always have somebody to pass your time , to play games or even to do crazy thing because you are just a child. On the other hand when you are alone you can not do anything of these things because you are alone all the time. Besides these when you have a brother or a sister you can also meet more people and make more friends even i elder age, something that does not happen when you are alone. I have a brother who is 20 years old an i am a male 23 years old and i am really happy for having my brother.

If u r the only one u r really missing something.. u will not have anyone to share ur rare moments.. ur problems .. u won't be having anyone to quarrel with ... ya u get a lot of care from the parents but that become so caring that u get restricted in most of the situations in life.. not because they don't love u ... because they just love u ...
