Does anyone else like messing around with photo editing software?

I just got a new digital camera that has a "pets and kids" mode on it. It captures fast movement... Here it captured my cat's tongue that came out a split second and also captures many of his funny expressions that an ordinary speed wouldn't get. I also have PhotoImpact Pro, photo editing software. I have a LOT of practicing and reading to do, but this is my first effort with adding a little something to a photo. I guess since I'm not a good photographer I have to "cheat" a little, but I love changing colors and adding special effects to my photos...softening edges, etc. Does anyone else have any 'doctored' photos to share for ideas?
