authentification and valuation

I have been givwn the task of finding the value of a book that is VERY old and signed by the author and have no clue as to where to begin my search. The book is Up From Slavery by Booker T. Washington, and you can still feel the indention of the fountain pen strokes. ANyone have any ideas to help?

Perhaps you could try finding an antique book dealer to give you an appraisal on the book. You could also try finding someone from the Antique's Roadshow, and see what they recommend. I'd try there first. Good luck!
