I am really really pissed right now. Why? because i have always tried my best to post sensible quality posts. However, the past few days, whenever i look for discussions where i could post, i find myself looking at a screen flooded with started post by the same person, with discussions that she/he could just look over the internet. examples of the discussion he/she started? 'what is an atm?', then a few minutes after he/she started another discussion 'what is an automated teller machine', at this day and age, i doubt that she doesn't know what an atm is... what is an imperfect tense? what is a perfect tense? what is a verb? what kind of discussion is that???? she could look it up on the internet.. it's obvious that he/she is just doing this to earn an extra cent. and im getting pissed at going through pages of discussions, looking for ones that i might be interested in, only to see his/her senseless discussions. it's simple enough to look it up on the internet. so please look it up. this has got to stop.

I feel your pain. It really is getting more and more difficult to find quality posts. I pretty much stick to my friends discussions now. I am posting a lot less because of it but at least the discussions are intelligent and thoughtful for the most part.

yes it is much hard to post now. because you can't find discussions that is worth your post. this has really got to stop. i'm re-reading the guidelines to see if i could report is as an abuse. it is very inconvenient to the rest of the mylot communities. at best i could just give it a negative rating. this has really got to stop.

I only started posting the day before yesterday but I have to say I agree with you. I managed to earn just short of a dollar yesterday but that was because I spent all day online sifting through the crap. I came across one page where every single post was started by the same person asking questions that you only needed to answer with a Yes or No. So much for Quality posting eh?

Day before yesterday I ran across a member that had posted no less than 50 discussions in less than 3 hours rewording them about television show and the characters. It was pages of new discussions that I had to wade through. I too have a hard tome trying to post to quality discussions. I'm hoping one day that it will be the other way around that we won't have to sift through the nonsense, almost everything will be quality! :)

yes so much for quality posting. somehow it now becomes a contest of who makes the most number of posts.. rather than who makes the most sensible quality posts.

There should be limit on how many discussions you can post in an hour, that would stop people posting pointless ones. In a another discussion I saw a suggestion about a word count on responses too to eliminate people writing responses that are too short, both these measures would go along way in stopping that sort of thing.

I understand how you feel right now. It is so frustrating and annoying to see this kind of topics really. Lately i've been loosing interest on answering discussions or posting cos of when you look for interesting discussions all that you can see is all this non sense stuff which is posted by same member. I mean, you can post anything and everything here but please make it a quality one.

Well, wynna1 I have just started doing something that one of my myLot friends mentioned. I just you the link where it says "discussions my friends have started" and go that way. Then I don't get as ticked off as I do if I just respond the usual way. I just started doing it today, and it's really working. Just thought you might want to try that too, if you don't already!

plus it degrades the feel of mylot. it also defeats the purpose of starting and contributing quality discussions and posts. there was even one person who titled his discussion 'spammmer here'.. what a way to broadcast that he is a spammer. haha. yes i'm losing interest in mylot as well because of these people. i just hate it. it's an abuse in the system. please mylot do something about this. please please please. it is so unfair to people who really enjoys the discussions. Those who abuse the system are in here for the money. it is so obvious. and it is affecting a lot of people. it's sooooo frustrating.

Thank God someone else noticed besides me. Yes, I totally agree with you. I've been reporting them, but then couldn't keep up with them all so I started "-" all of their discussions. I hope that others are doing the same thing. There's a guy that's doing it as we speak (nageki) and he's been doing it for days. I've reported him, and some others, often, so I hope something gets done about it. Maybe enough people will respond to this discussion and myLot will get the hint that us serious posters just don't like it!!! I've started a list to keep track of these jerks. I've got 9 on the list so far and just recently started. I even keep track of their current "star" rating and then see what happens after I've reported them numerous times. One guy was brought from a 9 to a 7. The guy I mentioned above has TONS of posts, and no star - so I'm apparently not the only person noticing. We all need to report these people. We need to stand up and tell myLot what's wrong with the discussion when we report it. I also try to include how it affects the overall "feel" of the myLot community. I just think if we spell it out, we might get more of a response. I suggested to myLot, while reporting abuse, that they desperately need a site moderator who reads all posts before they appear on the site. That's the only way I think these jerks will get the hint. I think if too many are denied from the same person, they should be removed from myLot. Maybe if we all requested that too, it might happen (getting a site moderator I mean). Oh boy, you got me started. I could go on and on with this forever. But, I'll stop now! Just remember that we can all take a stand against these jerks who are abusing the system!!!

TONS of posts? without a star? I guess that's because they don't really reply to any discussions, they just start all the senseless crappy ones. And i've been giving the a "-" as well, but as you said.. they are just too many and too fast to keep up with them. I only have 3 on my list so far. But it's good that the stars went down, but as long as they keep earning from 'flooding' the discussions, then they wouldn't stop. something needs to be done with these people. It's very inconvenient to sift through discussion pages trying to find that one that got buried by the tons of senseless discussion about things that could be found on the web. and i could also go on and on and on about this. So i'll stop now.

I agree it is annoying. not only that you will get the same question by 2 or 3 different people in like 10 mins. of each other. or the first one gets many many responses so they repost the same question just worded a little different then wonder why no one responds. I am fairly new to this have posted a few questions but can't think of a lot because most have been asked already lol so I mainly stick to reply's.

I feel your pain. I want to have good, constructive discussions here (in addition to making a bit of money of course) but when I open up a discussion page like the "computers" page today for example and find the entire first page taken up by subjects created by the same poster on just random computer stuff that could be looked up in a a couple of seconds, it's frustrating. They're ruining this site with their mindless discussions just to earn an extra penny. I've tried my best to keep my responses constructive and to the point and to not just make new discussions in order to earn money, but having to sift through pages and pages of discussions created by the same person is kind of turning me off to this site. It's becoming watered down by people more interested in upping their post count than actually having good conversation. And it's not like we can just reply to all of their discussions because many will be deleted in the future anyway. I hope the mods here start cleaning this up though because it is very frustrating.

how can one make good constructive discussions if the discussion you are answer is this 'what is a verb'.. if a user posts a verb is a word that depicts action then the discussion is over. quality discussions should be discussions that encourages a lot of responses. i start discussions and sometimes nobody responds, but it is ok. when i started it, i hoped for a lot of responses. mostly "i need advice" discussions. discussions like that encourages people who might have had similar experiences or from people who basically just have something to say about it. but at least it is an open ended discussion. but discussions such as what is a xylem? get a dictionary and it is over.

Well I totally agree with you there but we will never stop it no matter what we say. They just want to make money, so they are posting stupid Discussions, not because they want to know or they don't know what it is. I don't even reply to them. I know it is a pain fighting past these to get a decent Discussion but we will never stop it.

sad to say we all noticed that, some user get this site wrong... they think that mylot is all about money and nothing. actually whenever i read this kind of discussion i give them negative ratings just to let the admin know that this person is flooding the discussion and see some actions.

I clearly understand your stand here pagibig (nice username btw; means love, right?) and i commend you for bringing it up. Its really annoying to see posts that doesn't make sense and it's so pathetic for those users for are doing such when they can enjoy sharing views in this community. It's very obvious that these people are hitting it that way thinking that it could increase their earnings. Anyway, sensible users here knows how to distinguish such posts and as for me, i simply don't reply to it but make it a point to hit the (-) sign.

what annoyed me was i saw a reply to a post and there was a paragraph UNDER the reply saying stupid crap like dont read this. i am just writing a longer reply to get money. my mom is a ho, blah blah, blah. Seriously the blah blah was IN the reply. I get so mad because some people get on here trying to get easy money and post stupid replies like that? It just irks my buttons when people put actual effort into replies and posts and people do crap like that!

oh those are the spammers. in one of my discussions, one person typed something like this 'huigguikkduugj uihhurig' just a bunch of gibberish that doesn't really contribute anything. But the people we are talking about are discussion starters, with topics that can easily be found on the internet. it is pretty annoying as well. but i think mylot cleans up those spammed posts. but i don't know about the discussion. There is a loophole you see. it is a question and it still encourages a discussion. the only problem with it is the discussion ends after 1 post. all the poster needs to do is answer it correctly and the discussion is over. for example, what is a verb, i post what a verb it and there is no point for the other members of mylot to post on it. it would just look stupid to post what a verb is again after someone already posted it right? these are the type of discussions that have been flooding mylot lately. burying the good ones in the background. why? for example i start discussion A, you can get it under the discussions with no response link or new discussions, or under the discussions according to interest. If these people starts discussion under discussion under the same interest in a span of a few seconds each, then my discussion gets buried and people will have to sift through pages of discussions before they could get to mine. i have reported it to mylot and i hope something is done. this people should know that myLot pays for quality posts, NOT quantity.

I agree with you so very much. I dont like wasting my time going through all those pages of useless discussion either. Sometimes I find it hard to arrange things so that I can have time to come to My Lot during the day, and I end up wasting time with that kind of thing. Very frustrating. But other than that, I have been enjoying my self on this site. I guess all we can really hope for, is that they get bored of themselves, and finally stop. I dont think anyone really responds to such discussions, anway.

they get 1 respond everytime. all from the same person. it's like a buddy system i guess. i checked it out and almost all their discussions are like this.. user A posts discussion A, and user B answers discussion A. User A marks user B as best response. In return, user B starts discussion B, user A answers discussion B, user B marks user A as best response. in that way, they both get 2 posts each, 1 best response each. If they both start 10 discussions like the ones we are seeing, they both get 20 posts each, 10 best responses each. all in a matter of a few minutes. That is abusing the system. ingenious but still an abuse. and it sets all our discussions further back.

I hope they get bored too... mostly, I guess I hope the myLot earnings algorithm somehow is smart enough to ferret out what "quality content" looks like, and rewards it accordingly. My fear, however, is that it's the GOOD posters who'll get bored and decide this is "just a stupid Mickey Mouse site, so why bother."

There are over 70,000 people registered to use this site. If only 3% start discussions, that is about 2,000 topics. Out of those 2,000 topics, maybe at most 200 will be interesting or different. So, at any one time, the vast majority of topics will be dull, rehashes, over talked about, things that don't interest you, silly (as you have mentioned), senseless, pointless or disgusting. You are right, many topics could be answered by doing a search or finding info on the web. There are only so many topics that are truly intersesting out of thousands.

Maybe we should add each other to our friends list to get good discussions. I don't know how to do that though. It asks for the person't e-mail - how do I find that out? And their name? I thought I'd just need to put the person's screenname, like sigma77, etc. If someone could help me with that, it would be great. I just want real discussions.

Now I have a question. When these bad posters keep doing this, doesn't it make our discussions for further and further toward the back? I mean, it will be more difficult for ours to be seen, because there's is in the way, right? It looks to me like the most recently posted is on top, as well as most recently responded to. I could be wrong, as I'm still a newbie, kind of. Any thoughts on this?

Hello pagibig........ I agree.........There are too many mind numbing pathetic worthless so called discussions here on mylot that I can barely find any worth responding to. From the posted rules.....quality is supposed to be the most important factor. From what I've seen......very few can tell the difference between a quality discussion and crap. Maybe if the monitors read this they'll take the hint. I would not bet on it though. Tom

And i really feel it is abuse..there is no real way to discuss it than rather just look it up on Wikpedia..now if it was a collage kid needing an answer..i wouldnt mind.,.,but 30 questions? give me a break.,.I think they shoudl be reported and let mylot decide if they should be deleted..because i fele they should be..RRRR!!!

I know what you mean but try not to let it upset you because it has been happening for a long time now. Many people think the more they post the more they make which isn't entirely true. The more quality posts the more money they'll make. Just do your best to ignore them cause they aren't worth the effort. What I find works for me is if you develop a group of friends ones that you know post quality stuff and then when you sign on and go into discussions instead of having to page through crap you just go to discussions my friends started and you'll have quality stuff to look at. I find this helps so much more. Good Luck.

Look, a lot of people on here have limited English and do the best they can. Most came on Mylot to practice their high school English, required in many countries, just like many of us had to take French, Spanish or German in ours. As the daughter of a Turkish WWII war bride, I've known my mother to struggle until the end of her life with our language and I couldnt stand when people gave her dirty looks because she mangled a word or asked them to repeat themselves. I saw the posts you were talking about (atm) and what she did was get a stupid, short 3-word answer for the intials "atm" and didnt understand. So she made a new post asking the full name to see if someone would help her understand further. It doesnt help if she doesnt understand the definition in English to translate it in her language to search for it on her computer. Her computer is set in her home language or do you think everyone's computer is in English? If you want to vent, tell Mylotans to stop giving short answers like that which confused her. This is an international forum. Those giving the short answers are probably the same ones who vent, wondering why half their answers were cancelled at the end of the month! So be patient and remember, someone in your family one time had to struggle with the English language! Be kinder.

I'll tell you what is really flooding (spamming - not scamming) mylot - its you ranters about what should be here or not! I am tired of those posts and they probably outnumber the ones you rant about. Its not a discussion - its a temper tantrum. Who do you think you are? If you're dissatisfied - get off! You dont own mylot - let the owners take care of the disputed discussions as they ARE DOING.

Look, you are obviously not getting the point here. It is not just the atm discussion it is much much more. She is obviously good in english. What she is doing is spamming/flooding the discussions and NOT trying to enhance her english skills. What's happening right now is already a scam. A scam to get more posts, to get more best responses and to get paid more. The issue is NOT her english skills, NEVER in my post did i say that i have a problem with her english, the problem is she FLOODS the discussion with obviously close-ended discussions. Close-ended discussions meaning, after 1 post, she'll get her answer and there is no point in posting in that discussion again. Why is it a SCAM? because she only has 1 person responding to her discussions, and she marks that person as best response to almost ALL her discussions. and that person also FLOODS the discussions and she reponds to it and she gets marked as best response as well. We know that best response mark help our user ratings and maybe even our earnings. best response is a validation that we are posting QUALITY comments. as for the atm discussion, she knows what an ATM is. she got a detailed answer on her what is an atm thread. again, the issue is not her english, the issue is her FLOODING of the discussions pages by starting discussions that DO NOT encourage wide participation.

I agree with you, there are tons of people that do this, that is why we have to report it as spam and get them removed. Next time, please report it. That way, our forum will be clear for all honest, good, and intelligent discussions and not for people that do not care about anyone other than themselves. I am glad that this discussion will promote awareness of the issue and get others to stop and report, what they see.

If people read the guidelines then maybe there might be some sensible posts coming through! Thankfully I have found a few that I can respond to! Having short one liners is no good for newbies to learn with either. Ive never been really one for the one lined messeges. Some I resond to in vein, but just to try get them coming away from those silly one liners that they have been posting! Ive only been a member just over a couple of weeks and love to read a good messege and try to give genuine feedback! Lets hope this improves for everyone Lynn-Marie

Probably just trying to start discussions although irrelevant. Some people don't care about quality post, they care about quantity which is not a good strategy here in mylot. guality beats quantity all the time. I've proven it myself.
