Hi super1880.. First of all, welcome to mylot. You have to update regularly your antivirus software so that it may get the latest viruses. I suggest also that you install an antispyware if ever your antivirus lacks the feature of blocking some spywares. Be sure that your windows firewall is turned ON. Windows firewall also has the capability to block the entrance of some viruses and malwares while surfing the net. That is why it is essential that your windows firewall is always turned ON. On the other hand, I suggest also that you use opera and mozilla firefox as your main browser while surfing the net because it is much safer when compared to IE. Hope this would help. Have a great day and God speed!

symantec products has its disadvantages in terms of memory allocation.you must have a big memory in order to run symantec, with little memory you will always encounter LOW VIRTUAL MEMORY. but on the other hand, symantec is very secured and i think the best in term of protection.:)

like what you said you're antivirus is up-to-date, but you have to be careful of the site you are surfing and your antivirus must have antispyware built-in or installed in your system. try the latest version of nod32 it already have its anti-spyware integrated.

I would like to suggest something you can do to work with your virus/spyware program. Try using your existing tools (under accessories) to clear out a lot of the junk like temp files and the like before you run your scans. (That's where some of the nasties are lurking.) It'll speed up your computer, and your scans won't take as long. Happy to see you're updating your software regularly. :)
