And Then There Were Sock Elephants!

The wonderful sock monkey was such a successful toy to make that someone came up with the idea of using Mens socks to make yet another toy. So the sock elephant was born. Kids just went wild over them. Parents loved them because they were so frugal to make. The discussion on the sock monkey can be found here: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/785501.aspx Evey man wore socks and the traditional work sock was readily available. The work sock was easy to reconize because it had a red heel. It was the work sock that the sock elephant was made from. Somewhere along the way, people got away from making toys for their children but it is now time to bring that tradition back to so here is the pattern for The Sock Elephant http://lennytaylor.freeyellow.com/elephant.htm

Isn't that clever? There will always be creative people thinking of new things to market. Thanks for the link and the info.

Thanks again for these. Will be cute sitting on the table at the flea market this fall. Of course we will keep a couple for ourselves. I appreciate you finding these and sharing these kind of things here in a discussion type situation.

Oh my goodness how cute! I am familiar with the sock monkey but had never seen the sock elephant! Precious! Of course this is precious for a child, but my wheels are spinning..! We are coming upon an election year. Imagine making these for Republican friends?! I have a coworker who is a staunch Republican and is forever speaking her views. I could quietly leave on in her mailbox at work!!! How cute! Thanks for the idea!
