Is India a good place to send Thai students to learn English? Most Thais try to go to Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada or Britain, but now some are opting for India. Do you think it's a good choice?

I don't know anything about India, but I would cosider only English speaking country. I know that people in India speak English, but I can't understand them here in USA.

The main reason someone here would do this is that the cost of living is much lower than in other countries. I've heard there are some excellent schools there. I also have difficulty understanding some Indians, but then there are some Aussies I can't understand too.

There are excellent schools in many places, but considering air fares and living expenses the most economical for my friend is India. At the school I teach, which is an Ameriacn organization, we have three Amecican teachers, Three Australian, One New Zealander, and one Irishman. Our manager is a Brit. The first time I met the Irishman was when I was taking him to get his work permit. Do you think I could understand him? No way. His accent was so broad, I had to ask him to repeat everything. Students are exposed to all these different accents, which is part of AUA's policy. It probably is a good idea, but god help the students.

The cost surely is much lower here compared to western countries. But the competition for getting in to good Schools is tough as any were else in the world. Also the fees is more for overseas students. So check whether it is comparable to other countries. You should check the credibility of the university first. Regards
