Why do Teenagers Love to have Cellphones

We live in a modern, high-tech world. I think teenagers are crazy about cellphones because cellphones are the fad. Thus they couldn't resist owning this hi-tech gizmo, either due to necessity or to be accepted in their own social circles. However, cellphones are also very useful. Parents buy their children cellphones for easier, faster communication. Children can immidiately text or call their parents where they are without the hassle of searching for a phone both.
Personally, my cellphone is my best friend and entertainer. It has become my source of comfort when I'm alone and when I feel out of place..
Maybe this is the reason why teenagers need cellphones.

There are a lot of adults who seem to think they need them too, and many are just as clueless about the safety and etiquette issues this fad brings up. And if a large portion of the adults couldn't care less about the people around them when they are using these things, how can we expect the teenagers to follow suit?

Well nowadays it's almost impossible to find a teenager that doesn't own a cellphone. I tried to give up my cell for one day to see if I can get through it. Unfortunately I couldn't.

i use cellphone for business calls and of course, to keep in touch with my friends and family. It always keep our communication line open, 24x7. i really love using my cellphone especially we have our call and text unlimited which i think really helps more to be closer with them.

i love cellphone since i could call my loved one at anytime.......... chat at any time ..... entertines me at
any time.... this shows the necessity of cell phone .....

I do think that in the world today it is a good idea to have a cell phone for teenagers and adults. I wish they were around more prevelent when I was in high school.

We need cellphones because we can get utterly bored easily and talking with friends is the only way in my opinion is the way to solve the problem. Also have games and a radio on it helps heaps entertainment wise for them if they're on a long road trip, etc

I hear that opinion from my daughter too. I thinks today's teenagers are used to be entertained at all times. Not only that, but they are used to instant gratification and instant everything. Not that it's entirely bad, it's just the changing times.

Like anyones else said.... i tend to agree that cellphones may look you even more cool than ever cuz the better the cellphone you have, the better you are to them.
But today, cellphones are in need when it comes to communication especially if you really get lost. Even children have cellphones now. But the real question is: Do they have the responsibility of when to use a cellphone????

I think it is a sense of security for them. Teenagers feel vulnerable, and insecure about themselves, and it is like a security blanket for them.

honey143 i think the reason why teenagers gets fascinated with cellphones especially we filipinos primarily because cellphones now are a big factor in one's life. Through cellphones you can easily pay bills, have friends, etc.. very useful..

Who doesn`t like hi-tech phones? Of corse, 3+ mpix camera, VGA video recording, etc, is not the most important thing on the phone but still it's nice you don`t need to carry camera and other stuff. All inside one little cool thing. Teenagers just want to take a picture, to listen their favorite songs, surf the net and yes - to show their buddies their stylish phone.

A fad? I highly doubt it! Cellphones are here to stay. Unlike many others, my cell phone is from a few years ago (although it can go online and take pictures... but it's pretty bulky) but I absolutely need my phone! It has about two hundred different people's numbers on it, most entries having at least two phone numbers (home and mobile). Cell phones have made our world much more convenient!

Havin a few teenagers myself the schools here banned them from school becsue they were taking pic fo tests and also texting the answers to friends in the class or who would get it next class

According to my 14 year old cousin, if you don't have your own cell phone - you're not cool, you're a loser.
I think children should get cells when they can pay for them.

The fact that younsters are addicted to cellphones is true. But the reasons? ...hmmmn. That will make a long list. My personall believe in this is that 80% of teenagers own cellphones to keep their relationship with friends and family alive. Other than this, it is all about the fantasy that comes with it and maybe just to belong to the class of teenagers that own cellphones.

When I was a teenager, I use to talk over the phone all the time. Back then, the cellphone were not that much popular as today. I didn't have a cellphone. Teenager love to go be with their buddies and talk over the phone, now cellphone.

don't worry, recent studies show that today's cell phones are not harmful to your health, they won't cause radiation or cancer to your brain. The only time they can be harmful to your health is when they distract you when you're doing something that needs your attention, like driving.

i agree with you, but some couldn't buy a phone due to it's luck of money. some are for social circles and some are for family communication as well as their friends. when i was in high school from way back almost 12 years ago cellphones are not that in demand only are parents have such as monolog phone.
