My computer says it's low on virtual memory.Please does someone know

what that means, and what do i do about it???? I did a restore to an earlier date when it was working better but that didn't help! It's a 1998 Gateway and i had it given to me free.It has windows XP on it.

It is many garbage and debris of hard disk in you computer.First,set the virtual memory bigger.Second,clean the hard disk.Third,scan computer for virus.Mybe you can try the methods.

Low on virtualy memory usually means do many things are running at once using up all of the computers memory. So you can't do anything. Close out some of the programs that are running, and see how it works. Wouldn't hurt to do a virus scan,as their may be some spywares and such running without you knowing. Causing the computer to lose virtual memory.
