out your literary piece? Will it be a bestseller? I think I may have a book some where in my head. Ever since I started on myLot, my thoughts have begun to flow a little better. How about you? How do you think myLot is helping you to realize your writing dreams?

I'm not an aspiring writer, though the idea of writing a bestseller in some far away future has always been a vague dream of mine. Unfortunately, I neither have the discipline nor the commitment to make it happen. As for mylot.com helping a person realize their writing dreams, I think it can assist in some way and in some way sidetrack them away from it. Mylot.com can be a venue to express ideas and even discover a few. It is also a good tool to sharpen one's wit, display one's knowledge and share one's opinions. However, because of the nature of the forum, people here are not as concern with organization, style, and even simple grammar and mechanics, which unfortunately are non-negotiables for someone who really wants to make a career in writing. My best advice for someone who wants to write professionally is to spend more time practicing his craft in many ways than one, and he can include mylot.com in that bunch, but not all exclusively.

Of course myLot would not be one stop shop for the aspiring writer. You are right about the grammar, style etc. Those though are not the biggest blocks for most writers. The flow of ideas are what I would think would be the most beneficial. Thanks for your comments.

I am an aspiring writer, but I write romantic fiction. I don't know that MyLot will help me because it's so distracting! I love it on here and have had to force myself to spend less time here and get on with my writing. LOL. But I do love it here and my friends, so I won't be gone for long :)

There is an inviting atmosphere here and if you are not careful you could end up spending too many hours here. But it does keep our creative juices flowing and that's what I appreciate the most. Thanks for your comments:)

Sorry about that book you threw away, I would bet someone wanted to read it:) Hopefully there's another one where that one came from. Thanks for your comments.

Actually, my lot has been quite theraputic for me. I am a writer, but I have a hard time with inspiration. I go through fazes where I write day and night and then I can maybe do one or two poems in three years. It is good for me to write on mylot because I get unbiased opinions about things and it helps a lot. I worte a book a long time ago and then threw it away, so I know I can do it, it's just a matter of discipline and finding a subject that I feel inspired to write about.

I can truly say that being here has helped me to get the thoughts out of my head and onto paper. I only been here a short time so I know I will also continue to improve.

Hi, I am a freelance writer and have been a member of mylot for almost 2 weeks. I enjoy mylot because it gives me new things to think about and gives me a place where i can write down ideas and thoughts and have fairly intelectual answers :-)

I don't think that mylot is really going to do anything special for my writing career except maybe give me a little exposure. Oh yeah, and I will be able to stretch my writing muscles before I go to blog and write articles elsewhere. I agree that when I go to respond to certain topics I feel that my thoughts are right there and it is just the right time to have them flow out, and as I post they flow a little better.

myLot has over 71,000 people so that would be some great exposure. Keep on writing. Thanks for your comments.

MyLot is letting me realize how descriptive I need to be in my writing for it to engage an audience. I'm currently writing a children's story to hopefully be published by September, but I would love to get it published during late springtime or early summer.

I think spending some of your spare time on mylot does improve your literary skills. Mylot does have alot of discussions that you can draw ideas from for writing.

You are so right. It has done exactly that for me; before I started on myLot I would go weeks before writing anything. Now I have a great reason to pick my brains more often. Thanks for your comments.
