Should we respond to obnoxious posts?

You know the ones that I'm talking about- they use abrasive language, border on hate speak, pick soft targets, propose draconian measures to deal with real and painful problems. Some times I think that people do this just to sensationalise the issue and create an uproar...and more often than not it works. Should we be rewarding this by responding to their posts?

I don't think we should be rewarding obnoxious posters by responding to their posts. Some people are full of hate, and I don't care to interact with them. Others only post the type of discussions that are going to get people riled up, and they clearly enjoy the whole process. I just don't like to get involved. Some obnoxious posters are humourous and as that is coming from somewhere with good intentions, I don't mind them a bit.

Agreed! If I find a post merely arousing sensationalism and no sincerity in the post ,I avoid responding to it but I don't believe you would get many takers for that attitude here.I've read some that left me confused on whether I should laugh or feel angry about it.It's better to see the funny side and find a better one coz there are some that will amaze you with their brilliance.I can honestly say that I have 3 or 4 such friends on my list.Lucky me!

Hello MakeItCount....... I agree.......The number of mind numbing worthless discussions is getting intolerable, I can barely find a half dozen a day worth responding to. I wonder when the moderators here will notice how much of what's written here daily, is just crap. Tom
