Redheads

I heard on the news that by the end of the Century Redheads might be extinct Anybody heard this? I love Red hair

I hadn't heard this, but I guess I can see how that would happen since the gene for red hair is recessive and rather rare. It could be diluted and "bred out" of the population eventually. THank goodness there is still hairdye!

Actually, after thinking about it more, I don't think it they could be extinct by the end of this century, since even a redhead born now could concievebly be alive in 2100. It would take longer than 3 or 4 more generations for the gene to be completely diluted. Even then, you would still have situations where two people with one recessive gene each would get together and have a red-haird child by chance.

I hope that was a nasty rumor. Myself, my daughter, my granddaughter and my grandson are all redheads. Please tell me it was a joke.

I hadn't heard that, but it is very odd sounding indeed. That would be very weird, watch some scientists start a "red-haired-human conservation plan" lol. But that would be very weird. I wonder what red-headed people out there have to say about this?
