I remember taking a trip form South Florisa to Ky. I got up at 4:30 am. workied until 3:00 pm. and went home grabbed my bags and took off for a vacation . I got as far as North Carolina and I was to dog tired I was having to roll the window down for fresh air to keep me awake. About an hour after that I saw two big huge like great danes running down the road in front of me...I decided to take a break ...have anyone ever had an driving experience like this ...and what happened to you ????

As a long distance trucker, I can only remember 1 time I had a hallucination and it freaked me out. I was 1 1/2 hours from home after driving for about 22 hours when all of a sudden I could swear I was see a full grown Lion sitting on the side of the hwy. I was in Manitoba, and I'm certain there are no lions in that province. Anyway it sure woke me up for the remainder of the trip. That was many years ago and I don't drive that many hours in a stretch anymore. Laws prevent that. Great topic.

Ya you got that right, when I started in this business 24 years ago I never even had to keep a log book. Mind you I was only running Canada for the 1st 9 years. Now I even have to log if I stop for a pee. LOL

My husband was driving home down some country roads. It was late at night and he had been working for practically 15 hours straight. He said that he was so tired that he thought he saw a giant monster dog running down the road sideways at his car. That definately scared him. For me If it is late at night and I am tired I will see flashing blue lights like there is a police car behind me. One time my husband and I were driving back from a 5 hour trip on a motorcycle. Thankfully my husband was driving and not me. While we were on the highway I started to fall asleep. My husband felt my body start to tip and woke me up in time.

Driving from oklahoma with my father. We were headed back and I had been driving for awhile. Being stubborn. My dad asked if I was ok I said sure take a nap I am fine. Well about a half hour later I pulled over and woke my father. I looked at him and said your turn. He look at me and asked what happened. I told him a giant crab just walked across the street or I was to tired to drive. He just started laughing saying welcome to my world. As a truck driver he was very use to hearing such things. It shocked the heck out of me. LOL

Oh yes when we drive our cars and we are tired it can easily happened that we will experience hallucinations, as one day I remember I was living in the country side in South Australia, I had to work that day gathering grapes, from the trees, and due to I was tired I put my arms up to get some more grapes and I had an hallucinations that the grapes had turned into snakes oh boy did I let out a scream....all the other people that I worked with came over to me and asked me what i was s screaming about and I told them and they told me no you must be very tired and exhausted as it was a very tiring day and the heat must of got to me and that is why this had happened.

After working 4 years on the night shift. I barely slept on my working days. I worked from 10 pm to 7am. My son to school at 8 am and my daughter to school at 9:30 am. In bed and hopefully asleep by 10:00am, back up at 2 pm.Sometimes, I could catnap but not easy to do with 4 kids. I have had some pretty close calls with falling asleep or being totally absent minded. My daughter's favorite was when I sat in the line at her school to drop her off. When we finally reach her drop off point in front of the school, I forgot to drop her off...well almost...my daughter reminded me to STOP and let her out. LOL I really don't know how I made it home some days...

I was driving from South Carolina to Ohio and somewhere in West Virginia I saw monkeys running around along the side of the road. I knew I was pretty tired since the sun was just starting to come up. That made me decide to stop (lol) for a short break.

I have had that same experience. Except for me once it was a bicyclist I kept seeing and once it was a coyote. I eded up having to be towed out of a ditch that time! Driving when you are tired is just a bad idea.

Ohh hun! That reminds me of the movie BLACK DOG with Patrick Sawyze..but i know what you went through!! When me and some friends decided to drive to Louisianna years ago..I was a night person..and i could stay up for 15 hrs plus..but driving was another story !! I must have drove about 14 hrs,,and it was dark..and i started ot see this scary looking man..long hair..facing down..my god he was from a horror movie! wel i sawyed the car away from him and my friends freaked out! they yelled at me that no one was there,,about a half hr later i saw him again..I took this as a sign from someone that i was goona die soon if i didnt stop driving...so i pulled over and we switched and the second i hit the back seat..i was out cold..so that hallucination probably saved our lives..

Holy crap woman! You know you are tired when... : ) I never have had hallucinations, but have been so tired that I fell asleep. I hate long distance driving. One of my duties in my last job was to travel to the different branches to train new employees. One branch was a 2 hour drive one way. It didn't matter how much rest I got the previous night, I would get narcoliptic (sp?) and at times nod off. Many times I would pull over to the side of the road to sit a while and close my eyes.

I haven't had anything like that happen to me. When I get tired while driving I do seem to get a lead foot though. I'll see the semi down the road and I have to remember to wake up to pull over to pass it.

One time on a trip home from a concert about 2 hours away my daughter and I were just quietly coming home. We drove by this area, I said nothing but I swore to GOD I just saw a bear. I mean an actual bear walk by. I said nothing for a minute, then looked over at her.. she looked at me and went "Did you see it too?" LOL Well, evidently there WAS a bear that had been hit by a tractor trailer. Very odd on the highway between Pittsburgh and Erie indeed! I've thought other movements were wild life on the side of the road and such. And have caught myself breaking for a blowing leaf that I thought was a critter! LOL

Oh yeah I've had similar. It's amazing what you can see when you are way too tired to keep your eyes open. The mind will play drinks on you. It's not just seeing either. The ears can play tricks as well. I know one time I was driving back to school, alone, and I would have sworn I heard someone say something to me in the car. I was really glad I didn't have but ten more minutes to get to the dorm. That spooked me enough to be wide awake for that ten minutes. I then crashed for a good twelve hours.

It did scare me especially since it was on a very dark road in the country. It was really late at night. I was glad to see the school come into sight and I could be around where other living beings were.

I don't think I've hallucinated while driving, but we were in Bali once and when I came out of this hotel, this guy walked beside me and kept saying "mushroom?" "mushroom?" beside me. We decided to buy some and got high and I started hallucinating in the hotel room. Well, it wasn't much of a hallucination since I couldn't really mak out what I was seeing, more like just shadow people walking here and there. If you know you are going for a long drive, always get sufficient sleep. We wouldn't wanna lose one of the best mylotters and by that I mean, goot discussions and so on. (in my friend's list anyway) :)

I have never experienced anything like what you described. I am living out in the middle of the country and there is no lighting on the roads at night. A few times I have thought that there were people walking on the side of the road and I have swerved to avoid hitting them only to discover there was nobody there. Now I try to avoid driving in the dark.

Actually, No that has never happened to me. I'm pretty good about getting the desired sleep I need to travel even work... For Christmas, I went down to visit my family..I worked that day, however, I got home and took a good nap before I got on the road to travel... Thank goodness you were ok. But, that's something I couldn't do. I know me and will fall asleep when I'm sleepy...

My hubby has that happen to him, when he drives for a long time, and he is very tired. I think that it is best to pull over and regroup for a little bit, until you can make it home. And, I always tell him that, so that he does not fall asleep. Also, that is correct what you did, because if you put the windows down, and yet, are still tired, you are supposed to pull over. Sometimes, my hubby just wants to keep going home. But, I get worried and tell him to stop, take a break..

Not hallucinations but I've had some scary experiances after driving for too long. One time I was on a road trip with my friends and had been driving for like 6 hours straight and I glanced out my window and saw a red car, closed my eyes for what I thought was a second, looked back out the window and saw a semi truck. Needless to say I decided I should end my turn driving. Sometimes driving too and from school I get like that but it's not as bad because it's only a couple of hours.

Fortunately I have never really had to drive in the car for that long. I have never hallucinated from driving too long in a car, but I have hallucinated from other things. Either way, you are perceiving something that your brain thinks it actually sees, whether it is actually there or if it is even in the same dimension you are in is in doubt. What if hallucinating was just seeing into another dimension like the 5th dimension?
