Just wondering what diapering system most people use?? I would really LOVE to hear from people from other countries. If you use cloth what do you use brand/type wise?? We are a 100% cloth home here and love it, I would NEVER in a million years go back to disposables. I recently switched to cloth pads too and love those. We use cloth wipes too. I'm not in anyway trying to say that anyone who uses disposables is horrible or anything they just are not right for my babies. Also if you use disposables but have thought of using cloth what keeps you from switching??

We use cloth diapers, when we diaper. Most of the time we go without so it is easier to know when baby has to pee (and we can take her to the toilet). MotherEase One Size and regular cotton undies, here.

Both Cloth and Disposables have their place. We do not like to use disposables on principle. 1. They are environmentally unfriendly. 2. They do not allow much breathing of the skin. But disposables are great when we travel, and sometimes when we are tired and want a peaceful night. The best cloth diapers, we found in Asia. These are Gauze diapers that one secures with either a clip or pins. They are exquisitely soft and absorbent. Easy to dry since they are made of very fine yarn - count of 120's. We are expecting our third child in May. Cloth will be the staple, with disposables for special circumstances. Cheers.

hey I thought I was the only one to use cloth pads. I love 'em cos they are super comfy, re-useable and eco- friendly! Not to mention they cost much much less than the ones you buy every month! The one time I tried a super dry sheet pad, I ended up staining my dress in public - luckily it was my mom who spotted it first (I just sat up after the sermon at church) and had a sweater handy to conceal it - cos I could not tell when I needed to change! I am with you and I think its the best option for babies diapers too provided you disinfect regularly and get new ones every now and then..

I used cloth diapers with my son when he was really tiny. But his sister came along while he was still in diapers and I just found it too much work to keep up with two kids and cloth diapers. I had a really old washing machine that didn't hold much and no dryer so they had to hang by the woodstove to dry and it was just too complicated. I switched them both over to disposable and just never went back. I think if I were to have a baby now (HA! not likely!), I would probably go with the cloth diapers.

Wow I can see why you switched. Drying over a wood stove um ya that would be hard. I have 2 in cloth my daughter is 18 months and my son is 3 months, it was definately hard at first but now it's nothing. I would love a new washer and dryer though. ;)

I use both. When I am at home I use cloth diapers bit when I am out and about I use sposies. The cloth diapers I use are Mother Ease One Size. I started out useing the All In One Stuffables because I thought they were going to be the easiest but I like my MEOS. They are easy to wash and quick to dry. I was going to try cloth wipes but I lost my sample pack of Ribbits Royal Heiny Wash :( I really wanted to try them but the dissapeared somewhere in my house, I guess I should just order more.

My mom used cloth diapers on both my brother and I. I wanted to go cloth as well but didn't want to have to use pins and such. When I literally stumbled on the mother-ease diapers, I bought the system and loved it. My mom saw/used them on our daughter when she babysat and said she wished they had them back when we were babies. Much easier to deal with. Your right, they were very easy to wash and dried pretty quick when I hung them out on the line in the summer. Dryer was quicker thou. lol Never heard of the cloth wipes thou. I was given a 'recipe' on how to make your own disposable wipes thou. Cut a roll of thick paper towels in half. Put in a sealed container. Mix 1c. water, 2 tblsp of baby oil, 1 tblsp. of baby wash and pour evenly over the paper towels in container. I believe that was the recipe. Right ingredients but can't remember the right mix. My daughter is 8yrs old now so been a while since I made them.

With all three I admit, I used disposables. With my first child, I just never realized that Cloth diapers were available. With my first son, I think it was just convenience more than anything, and then when his brother came along just 13 months later, my life would have been a living hell of constantly trying to wash and dry cloth diapers before they ran out. I'm lucky in that none of them suffered from diaper rash. If the boys had, then possibly I would have thought about switching to cloth. However, I'm looking to have my sterilization reversed in a year or so - if thats successful and I get pregnant, I'm definitely going to try cloth. being a little older now, I may actually succeed lol.

I've never used a cloth diaper. I have three children and I just found the disposable diapers were much more convenient. I have enough laundry to do, lol and despite the fact that I'm sure disposables are more costly, I just didn't want to spend the time cleaning dirty cloth diapers. I guess it's mostly laziness on my part, but I liked it that way.

I started out with cloth diapers and it was too much work for me! When my baby was a newborn, he pees very often and pretty soon my supply of cloth diapers were used up. Also, his sheets, shirts all get wet. Maybe it's because the diapers we have here are all gauzy cloth. For me, disposables are just so convenient. Thank God my baby doesn't get rashes from the disposables he uses.

I lived in a crowded apartment when My children were little I had no washing machine and could not afford a diaper service! There was no way I was going to clean dirty diapers at the laudry mat! No way so I ued disposables. I also heard that with all of the water and soap, and bleach, and stuff you use that clot are just as eviormentally iunfriendly as disposables, I don't see how , but, thats what they say, These are the same people no dought that promote the formula companies!

I'm an American and my son is in cloth diapers. I have a mixture of many things. I really like cheap fitteds with covers. I also rely on fuzzi bunz or other kinds of pocket diapers. Now that my son is a toddler, he drinks a lot more than before, like tons of water, so I like pockets so I can bulk him up for naps or nighttime and have no leaks. We also use cloth wipes and cloth changing pads. I switched over a year ago when my son had chronic rashes. I would never go back either-it's easier than most people think plus it's cheap and environmentally friendly!

I started out using disposables but when I found a diaper system that requires no pins, I switched to cloth. Can't remember the brand I used but they are shaped like a disposable diaper and are held in place by snaps. The diaper covers were also held in place by snaps. The also had liners for extra absorbency, again snapped in place. My daughter is 8yrs old now but the diapers are still in excellent shape so I packed them away in a tote and store them in the shed so she may use them for her own babies in the future if she so desires. Man, wish I could remember the company that made them and who sold them but where I have them stored at isn't easy to get to. You can try a search online for 'cloth diapers' and see what comes up. I do remember buying them from a catalog thou. I switched to cloth cause the disposables were giving my daughter very painful rashes alot. Besides, they were 10x cheaper in the long run.

Well, my first child, who is now two was a boy and I was only eighteen. Cloth intimidated us and we lived in a third floor walk up with no washer dryer so... not very practical also considering I was working 60-80 hours per week. however, we are now trying for another baby and i will use cloth except for travel and i only work part time and may not at all after so, I think overall it will be a huge money saver and much better for the environment.

We never gave it a second thought to use cloth diapers. Do you companies that come to your home to wash them and bring you new ones, or do you do that by yourself? The idea of using cloth diapers makes a whole lot of sense, considering even how much disposables are.

I wash the diapers myself. With 2 babies I do so much other laundry anyway that I really don't even notice the diaper laundry and actually I quite like doing it better, crazy I know, but it's fun to get them all clean and see all the pretty diapers. You can get a service to come to your home, at least where I am, they will pick you the dirties and leave you new clean ones. I know a couple people who use a service. One of my reasons for using cloth was savings, at least before I found all the WAHM diapers and all the amazing pretty diapers you can get not to mention the wool too, and a service was the same price as using "sposies", but better for the environment. So I decided to wash my own instead.

We started out in all cloth, but my daughter has grown SO much and we are so low on money right now that we just cant afford to buy her new cloth dipes in her size. So at the moment we are using disposables. I HATE them. She has had diaper rash 5 times already since switching, and her skin cant breathe. Not to mention I feel overwhelming amounts of guilt about what I am doing to our poor mother earth. I anxiously await the day when our finances improve (in a couple months) and we can order some nice Bum Genius diapers and get BACK to doing right by our child and the environment. I find cloth to actually be EASIER than disposables, and well worth the initial investment.

disposables - babies disposables
In India its the cloth always which goes, but these days this diaper system is coming into picture and hence its becoming famous as moms dont have to worry about the cloth getting wet again and again. I am not a mom yet but stillI have idea about so tellinh you. You mentioned disposables is horrible, May I know the reason for this.

my thoughts for disposables not being as desirable (i won't say horrible) is because they aren't environmentally friendly, they make it easy for parents or caregivers to be unsanitary with disposing the babies waste...do u know that even with disposable diapers you are supposed to scrape the waste into the toilet to help prevent the spread of germs and disease??? disposables are ugly in comparison to cloth, and they stink...really they do, i think it's the chemicals in them mixing with the pee that makes me literally gag. oh yea i almost forgot to mention the chemicals. did you know that these chemicals are forbidden to be used in tampons for women because of health hazzards but not forbidden in diapers for babies???? why is that???

With my first two I used 'sposies because I never knew cloth was an option. My third child was in sposies until I found out I was pregnant again. I was looking for was to save money and came upon cd. I bought unbleached prefolds, bummis, pro-raps, and bumkins covers. I also bought several different WAHM aios and covers. My fav WAHM brand was LucyLuvs. When we switched my son over to cloth he had way less diaper rash than with the other dipes. I also bought a dozen or so Wonderoos pocket dipes. I liked those because I could use them on the newborn and my toddler. If I ever had another I'd use cloth again in an instant! Oh- we used cloth wipes as well.

i use disposable diapers, got no time to wash, as i am working everyday. and disposables are easy to use. and no washing needed. i've been using it for four months and fortunately my baby is okey with it, he is rash-free becuase of the aloe vera extract in pampers.

Clothe diapers are a thing of the past. No one has that time to wash diapers over and over again. Plus the disposables are so much better for your babies skin. And worth the money. cheers

I only wash every other day too. I do a cold rinse to lift stains, that's 20 minutes. Then I do a super hot wash with two tablespoons of detergent, that's 40 minutes. Then I put the inserts and prefolds in the dryer, and I line dry the covers or pocket diapers. If it's warm I line dry outside, if not I drape them inside over a line in my kitchen, I do this with my regular laundry too ;) I don't stand over the washer/dryer, so I can do other stuff too, beats running to the store to buy diapers in the middle of the week when I would run out!

I think it's interesting how for most people it's the thought of washing the diapers that is the sticking point. When I first thought of using cloth I wasn't sure about the washing but that was when I thought you still used a wet pail etc. It's not like that anymore. Most people just use a dry pail throw all the diapers in the washer do a cold wash, hot wash and 2 rinses and then throw them in the dryer. Easy peasy the machine does all the work. Most parents are doing tons of laundry anyway so what's one more load, and I wash every 2 days. I think you would be surprised at how many people actually do cloth diaper still and you'd be surprised at how it's changed.

When my kids are babies, we use cloth diapers during the day because you have to change everytime he pees. Then we use the disposables during the night to have us ( the parents) sleep comfortably. we use the "curity" brand of cloth diapers

I use cloth. with my first two children i used disposable. i still had the misconception of pins, folding, rubber pants, wet diaper pail, soaking stinky diapers. it all just screamed YUCK!!!!!!! to me. then with this one a neighbor gave me an AIO (all in one) cloth diaper and i was intrigued. i didn't know they existed. then i discovered the world of WAHM diapers because i couldn't afford the price of diapers as they were..... now i'm a WAHM making cloth diapers and i'm a strong advocate who uses my own product.
