..or it could be otherwise, the original is still better than the remake.. i just want to cite Ocean's Eleven. I saw the original and the plot there was better compared to the remade version with George Clooney, et al..and now they're going for Ocean's 13..the last one was a hold up..it made me think they're taking the moviegoers for a fool... what other movie remakes have you seen? what can you say about them?

I've seen many, many movie remakes over the years. Really too many to list. However a couple of my favorite remakes are: Mighty Joe Young, Parent Trap, Angels in The Outfield, Man In The Iron Mask, Count of Monte Cristo, Godzilla...like I said I've seen a lot of originals and remakes over the years. These were well done all the way around and beat the originals by a long shot. A couple of remakes I didn't like where Yours, Mine and Ours and That Darn Cat. The originals were far better and were more enjoyable. Overall the originals were funnier and more believeable then the remakes were.

yeah, i've noticed you're a film addict.. hehe.. The Man in the Iron Mask with Leonardo, et al, was good..or probably because i have a bias in favor of john malkovich..

Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, i saw the old version and I was surprised that it was a really good movie, then starring gene wilder as willie wonka. i have yet to see Johnny Depp's version though...

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been my favorite remake. They really amped up the gore (probably not to everyones taste). Also Willy Wonka was great..Johnny Depp is incredible in that one (as he is in just about everything he does)

Have watched so many remakes and usually the original is better but there are exceptions. The remakes that I prefer, though some I haven't had the privilege of watching the originals, are as follows: - Man in the iron mask - Count of Monte Cristo - King Kong by Peter Jackson - 300 - Titanic (1997) (versus all other titanic movies) - Batman Begins - King Arthur (2004) versus so many king arthur or camelot movies - Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson (vs other Christ movies) - Dracula (1992) with Gary Oldman - Gladiator (2000) - The Italian Job - The Mask of Zorro, The Legend of Zorro (vs 1957 zorro movies)

True Grit - True Grit, starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Hailee Steinfeld
I found remake of True Grit released in 2010 better than the original released in 1969. Also remake of 3:10 to Yuma in 2007 was better than 3:10 to Yuma released in 1957. Also Ocean's Eleven. This are the 3 remakes which I found better than the original .............

If you are talking about effects always the remake is better, because is made later when the effects are better. Also if you watch an old movie you might not like it, except you watched it when it was out for first time. In example many older people like the original starwars trilogy better, but the younger like the new trilogy instead of the old one.

Backstreet, this movie was made more than once and it is an example where the remake with Susan Hayward is much better than the origial 1932 with Irene Dunne, then remade in 1941 with Margaret Sullivan, and then made again with Susan Hayward in 1961 and the 1961 version was the best, with the original 1932 version being the worst. Unusualy that a remake is better but it happens. Another where I prefer the remake to the original is Front Page, the 1974 version with Jack Lemon is much better than the 1931 version with Pat O'Brien though in this case all the version of this movie were good even when they did a variation and changed the character to a woman with Rosalyn Russell playing the part in His Girl Friday 1940 Though the modern variation of this with Kathleen Turner wasn't that great it was called Switching Channels, if you are a fan of the old Front Page, and the old His Girl Friday you can recognize the copy done in Switching Channels.
