I've had a 72-hour stomach bug but nothing worse. Never even had the flu. What's the sickest you've been? I'd be interested to hear your stories.

omg. That sounds awful. I don't think I've ever known anyone who had malaria. Were you traveling when you got it?

Isn't there a malaria vaccine that you have to take before you travel?

This year I was sick, I couldn't leave the bathroom cause I couldn't stop vomiting, I ended up having to go to the ER for a shot.

That definitely doesn't sound like fun. Was it the flu or a regular mean stomach bug?

It was a stomach virus that was going around campus. My best friend had it and I got it from her.

The sickest I've ever felt was when I had an ovarian cyst rupture while I was at work. At first I just though it was bad menstrual pains, then it got worse...MUCH worse. I couldn't stop vomiting, but (as strange as it sounds) the only relief from the pain was during and shortly after I'd throw up. My temperature soared and my blood pressure dropped drastically-I almost passed out in the bathroom. It was so bad that my boss came with me into the bathroom every time I was sick to make sure I didn't faint, until finally my husband arrived to pick me up to take me to the hospital. (And my boss has a weak stomach!) At the hospital, I was given 2 injections of demerol, and still, no relief. I was given an IV drip of morphine, and finally the pain subsided somewhat. I was admitted and a few days later (after the fluid, etc., had cleared,) I felt fine and was released. That is something I NEVER want to go through again! OH, the HORROR!

That sounds awful. I think that particular experience is rather rare, at least that level of pain because I've had the same experience but did not get that sick. It was incredibly painful, I couldn't stand up and didn't want to move but no where near your description.

I've had cysts rupture before (and after) as well, but you're right, NOTHING compared to that one experience. Apparently their was (!!graphic warning!!) infection involved in this one, and the estimate on the size of the cyst was, well, much larger than normal. I'll leave it at that. I had been noticing a lump of sorts developing on one side of my abdomen, but I honestly thought it was part of my abdominal muscles because I had started working out a while before the incident, but hurt the one side of my back so I was "favouring it". I thought that maybe I was working one side more than the other, and thus, "bulking up" on that side only. I know, I'm a bone head. But it didn't hurt at all until that one fateful day!

that must have been when i had my third bout of pneumonia, and i had to undergo a series of lab tests and radiologic exams. i wasn't so sick, really, i was just too scared because i thought i had lung cancer already because my pneumonia kept on recurring. but after taking some truly expensive antibiotics, i got well, and what i did next was to have a shot of the anti-pneumonia vaccine, making me pneumonia-free for 5 years.

I had the flu for 2 weeks and has to use up all my vacation time. Now I get a flu shot every year. But the sickest I ever felt was when I had a migraine headache. I sure don't want one again.

I have had a few bad illnesses, really bad back problems twice couldn't walk for months ended up wearing a back brace for 2 years.Reaction to anesthetics and was asleep for most of the time but when i was awake i couldn't stop vomiting days all up, I had a punctured lung spontaneous so no reason for it and then kept getting holes in my lung for about 4 months just to mention a few but the worst was when i was given the wrong medication at the chemist he mixed mine with another patient with the same surname. Our name is unusual so if there are more than one they think it is all for the same person.

Sickest I've ever been was when I had food poisoning! I was spinning, swaying, dizzy, throwing up every 2 minutes, cramping, it was blowing out of me from both ends at the same time, rocking back and forth, moneing and holding my stomach, severe mussle cramping, coughing, nose running, eyes running, throat burning, you name it, I had it! All because of a pizza that was spoiled or something! I would have to say: Food poisoning was the worst I ever felt! I was fine the next day, but sooooo weak, I had to stay home and rest!

I know that I had something when I was very young but I am not sure what it was. I do know that the treatment or medicine turned my teeth and bones permanently yellow. In my adult life, I have never really had anything except fr pharangitis. That was pretty painful but manageable and went away.
