Happy President's Day! Who is/was your favorite President? Do you get the day off? What are you going to do to celebrate this day?

I hope you had a happy president's day as well. I celebrated mine by going to walmart and spending some. My favorite President was Ronald Reagan. I remember I was a kid my grandmother used to get what we called "reagan cheese because it came from the government. The cheese wasn't all, she received other dry goods as well. All that helped her out alot since she just had her social security check to live off of.

If your favorite President was Ronald Reagan, then he would have been very proud of you for helping the economy out on President's Day by your going to WalMart and spending. Thank you for sharing about your Grandmother and "Reagan cheese". And thank you for participating in this discussion.

I don't believe anyone will legimately disagree with your comment about Lincoln. Kennedy will probably take a while for historians to properly assess his qualities and impact. There are quite a few scholars who are beginning to hold him partially responsible for the country's Viet Nam mess. On the other hand, he started many of the new ideas Johnson got to actually impliment...LBJ's new society programs.

Thank you for your good wishes. I am living in Ireland and we don't celebrate President's Day here, so unfortunately it is just a day like any other one and it is not a holiday. My favourite president of the US would have to be JFK as he was of Irish descent. Next to him, I would choose President Clinton.

He was a little before my time but I think I'd have to say my favorite US president is Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He did more in one term thatn most of them can manage in four years. He led country out of a depression and through a war. He served longer than anybody else ever will. But most of all, FDR shaped the modern world. It's hard to believe but prior to his presidency, no one had a social security number.
