Joshua is a man who moves to town and has an air of mystery about him, he works as a carpenter and doesn't charge much for his work, he does however do a lot for the town. I highly recommend this book or the movie to everyone.
I was also wondering if anyone on mylot has read any of Girzone's other books?
This is a list I found online:
Joshua and the Children
Joshua and the Shepherd
Never Alone: A Personal Way to God
Joshua and the City
Joshua in a Troubled World: A Story for Our Time

Oh, I remember these Joshua series from the 80's I read three or four of them, but I think Joshua was the best. I did not know they were made into a movie. Another author I read a lot of back then was Frank Peretti. His books were riveting.

Oh yes, I've read several of Peretti's books - and excellent Christian author. I just started Max Lucado's "In the Eye of the Storm" yesterday (recommended by another mylot friend), another wonderful Christian author.

LOL I have a "mylot save" folder in my mailbox, I think I have 15 of your discussions in there :) If you can't find any of the books I'm sure they are available online. May even get some deals on used ones. Lady I was helping last week gave me Joshua and said I had to read it, now I know why. I'm headed to the used book store in town tomorrow to see if I can find more.

I knew there was a movie out but I haven't seen it. Wow, I love Point of Grace's music.

Yes, they are all Christian books but are fictional stories with great messages. Some of the things in Joshua are the town people give him funny looks when he's seen carrying a heavy log over his shoulder through town but he makes it look like it's really light (similiar to Jesus carrying his cross). Another part he goes to visit a little girl in town that is very sick and after Joshua leaves she is cured. I don't want to give too much information and spoil it but judging from this one book I would say all of this authors books are much the same and whether a person was a Christian or not could enjoy reading them.

I highly recommend it. Funny, yesterday I drove the lady that gave me the book to town (an elderly lady I cared for, and her husband a few months ago). I mentioned the book and she had forgotten she gave it to me but when I reminded her about it she said she would actually like to read it again so next week I'm going to give it back to her.
