It's probably crayfish rather than lobsters and they are larger than lobsters in that the latter usually have a limit of their size. For example, no lobster less than a 6 in. shell or larger that 8 in. can be pulled from the water legally in Maine. I am not sure why the smaller limit but I know that the larger limit is for reproductive reasons. The best lobsters are pulled from extremely cold water. The lobsters here in Portugal are gray and pink in color and are tough and the meat looks like wood shavings. Give me the lobsters in the North Atlantic on the east coast of North America.

At age eight I have a frozen lobster tail. I hated it. Now I am so obbsessed with fresh whole lobsters it's insane. I cook them myself. I do red lobster all the time. I maxed out a credit card with a thousand dollar limit mainly on lobster one year. Another year I developed an allergy to them, so I got special shots just to keep eating them. I am a 34 year old lobster lush

If you aint tried it don't knock it. It does take a little work and you have to get your fingers dirty but the end deserves the means, believe me. Congrats on BR.

Truthfully the first time I tried lobster was 2 years ago (so when I was 19). Ireally didn't want to try it but my boyfriend at the time made me try it since I never had. I was not happy trying it because it didn't taste good to me. At least now I can say I tried it and didn't like it instead of saying I just don't like it for no reason.

I LOVE lobster, I think I was 9 or 10 when I tried it for the first time. It was while our family was vacationing in Prince Edward Island. We rented a cabin, and we went to a resteraunt and my dad ordered us all lobsters. I'm the same way, love it, but hate having to pick all the meat out of the shell.

I never had lobster until I was 21 years old. My first husband bought lobster to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We had it every year after that for 5 years. We separated before our 6th anniversary. I missed the lobster.

I was about 28 and hated it! LOL I will most often at least try things but seafood is the one thing that just has never been up my alley! We were visiting my cousin and his family in Gloucester, MA and of course we had to buy tons of seafood for one of the many cookouts. My oldest daughter was only a few years old and when we brought home the live lobsters she was so upset that we were going to cook them. So she and I decided we would save at least one, took one from the sink and let it go back into the ocean. It made her happy and she felt like she had saved a life. LOL In the meantime, I suggested they cook up the lobsters while we were gone and they did. We came back and my cousin saved me a tail to try a piece. I dipped it in butter and to be honest with you if I HAD to pick lobster or crab, I'd take crab. It's a sweeter meat. But I wouldn't walk from here to the corner for anything out of the sea or lake! LOL Just can't do it for some reason. Not to mention, when I see people working their butts off to get meat out of both lobsters and crabs, I'm amazed!!! So much work for so little results! LOL Then again, they probably think that about unwrapping little hershey kisses.... so much work for such a small taste of chocolate! LOL

Lobsters - Lobsters picking out a human to eat.
Well, I am now alergic to sea food, but when I was not I loved it! I first tried it at my in-laws to be house and they just bought fresh lobster and crab and then boiled them. It was sooo good; I just could not get enough. It was so sweet and tender. I wish I could have it again.

I tried lobster when I was really young. My mom's good friend would invite us up to her house for lobster all the time, and I learned very quickly that I didn't like it..lol.

I think the first time I had it, I must have been about 12. I really really love lobster but don't have it too often.

I've never tasted lobster and I'm not planning on doing it anytime soon. I'll admit that I'm curious to its taste, but the whole cooking alive thing is too upsetting for me so I'd rather go without it.

I was around 20, I didn't like it at all because it is so chewy, but I will eat it if it is offered (for example I have been to a restaurant before and they told us "Thank you for coming, each person will get a free lobster tail with dinner." Obviously I will eat it, but if I had a choice? I would choose shrimp or fish, they aren't as chewy and I like them much better. Hm, well as far as it being messy and hard to get out, you are right, but most restaurants or places that serve it (sorry I wouldn't have a clue how to cook it myself) break it open for you :)

callarse it doesn't sound like you ate a young lobster which is very tender and succulent. The old geezers are tough and with little taste.

I probably ate lobster before I could remember it. My Aunt and her husband hauled lobsters in East Boothbay and we ate lots of them....it was right after the depression and money was tight but my Aunt always remembered members of her family....after all the only thing it cost her was the work hauling the traps. So I guess I would have to say that my mother fed me lobster as soon as I was able to chew. After eating so many lobsters I became an expert at picking the meat out because my mother used to go through the "leftovers" and make lobster stew with the pickings and guess who had to do the picking? +

I was probably in my 30's. When my mother was raising me we never tried anything else other than her cooking or hamburgers, all american food, when I left home at 18 years old I had never had chinese, mexician or many seafoods.

I did not have lobster until I was grown either - I think I was in my early 20's. I do love the taste though! I have not tried to cook my own though, not sure I could stand to do that. I have bought frozen lobster tails and cooked them before, though.
