the mail? How many of you winter-bound people cannot wait to get back in the garden and scratch up some dirt? Is there anything particular that you are wanting to grow this year?

I buy most of my seeds and things in shops usually rather than through the mail. I've planted some bulbs which have started to come up, miniature daffodils and Iris's. Though my tulips haven't come up yet they will hopefully come up later.

Yes, lately I've been really into things that come up all by themselves every year!

Well the bigger the seed, the less patience you need as they germinate pretty fast. Last spring I planted sugar snap peas in a container and put a trellis in there. A lot of peas in a little bit of space!

I have already got my first catalog. It was so great to look at all the flowers and imagine them in my yard. We are simplifying our yard and planting more bulbs and things that will keep comming back so we are looking for all new things. Someday my yard will look like one of the yards in the books!

We are simplifying also.. I think it's better to really take good care of only what you can handle than have too much and let it "do it's own thing".

I want a flower garden like this! - This is the type of flower garden I want in my side yard.
I can't wait for the snow to melt off all my flower beds and I start seeing the first signs of spring! It can't come soon enough for me... I just love scratching in the dirt!My goal this year is to have a beautiful side garden with lots of flowers blooming all spring and summer.

I've already bought most of my seeds some from catalogs and a few from the store. There is still a few feet of snow on the ground here though and it snwed more ysterday. But I've got most of it planned out. Idon't know much about gardening, i was never able to have till last year we finally have ahouse with a nice yard. I think I was out there before the snow was even melted digging new garden beds! I was too excited, mostly just experimented and threw whatever in the ground. Still did pretyy well though. This year I want to grow more veggies and plant lots of sunflowers to try to attract more birds.

I tried sunflowers a couple of years ago hoping for the same thing, however when they dried in the fall, the heads turn down, so birds weren't really able to get at the seeds. Then of course I was left with a lot of big husks to rototiller. They were attractive, but watch out if you want to plant something next to them that you want to tend as there were a LOT of bees on them.
