What do I give up for lent. I really do not know this year. I plan to be more active in Church so that is a positive thing. But I am clueless about what to give up for Lent. Any suggestions ? Please help I will rate each of you for helping.

I'm not religious myself so I don't recognize lent, and besides giving up something I love for 40 days is my ideal of hell. Do you eat chocolate? that's a common one to give up. Even a few days without chocolate and I'd be very moody LOL. Foods are popular to give up. Sorry can't think of much for you to ponder over. I'm sure you find something, but PLEASE DON'T do what someone else has suggested and that's give up using the internet! We'd miss you too much!

Giving up the Internet would be too hard. I could not do it no matter who told me too. Thank you for your sweet comments. I would miss you too. I would miss your new discussions and your inspirational comments and responses. As much as I love chocolate I would rather give that up then missing a discussion from you :)

You need to give up something that will be a challenge for you to give up. You are giving it to the Lord. It cannot be something that is "easy". What is your weakness? For me it would be chocolate. Do you smoke? Give that to the Lord. Do you love bread? Give that to the Lord. Whatever it is that you choose needs to be given whole-heartedly to the Lord. Good luck!!!

Thanks for helping me with this. I think I am pondering too much on this. When I was younger it was always candy now that I am in my 40's I am thinking it cannot be that even though I still eat it. I do not smoke and I just drink casually. I am trying to think of something that is not easy to give up. I have to just sit and think what my real weaknesses are.

How about giving up all materialistic things and trying to live a simple life. This way you will learn the value of what is truely important in life.
