My hubby went by hisself yesterday to the grocery store and omg we are going to be starving by tuesday!! He bought the weirdest stuff and spent way too much. He did buy some fresh salmon steaks that we will have tonight, but he did not really buy anything for me to make meals with. He bought 4 bags of french fries!!! why ?? no ketchup! 5 pounds of ground chuck but no cheese or buns!!!!oh what are we to do?? No money left for me to rectify it either.

Well, relax first, take a deep breath, count to 7, release slowly within 8 counts. Repeat 2 times. Now, LAUGH ALOUD! No reason to get depressed, but first look at the human nature humor side of this situation first. OK, so you have no money left, but you actually have food. It is just that they are not in the ideal combinations you hoped. How about meatballs and fries? Plain. That should be go great with coffee. Milk for the kidsm of course. Let's see ... is it possible to "loan" some things from the neighbor next door? Now for the longer term: Maybe you should start a backyard vegetable garden as a contingency measure. : cheers! all is not lost... and by the way, you got a good husband; he's normal, I guess.

That's the spirit! I'm sure I will envy your garden. I have a few pots at home, but I never found the time to really "sit among my plants". My mother made a major make-over by transfering plants into nice pots over the holidays. It took her less than a day to accomplish what I had been putting off for more than a year! Best to you...

hahaha you really have to learn a very hard lesson, most males are not capable of shopping alone they have to be trained. A few trips with his significant other should show him how to do it, but only let him make decissions on his own when you are absolutely sure he is capable. Best way is to send him with a very detailed list the first few times he flies solo, if not you are asking for trouble. blessed be

So glad my hubby counts the meals and buys things accordingly. He tends to buy the same things all the time though...uggh Do you have a pantry? You could make different things from what he bought if you have some basics on hand. Or it is time to head to the local food bank or church for some help. Ground chuck can go with spaghetti in a couple of ways and then there is meatloaf. French fries? I am sure that you could do something different with each bag however I am at a loss at the moment. Those Salmon steaks must have been expensive. Break them up into different meals! Good luck! Keep us posted!!!

That's the way it is with my husband. He buys what he wants and forgets what is needed. Then there is no money to fix it. He will come home with shrim and steak, but not get the shampoo or the toilet cleaner. says they can wait. huh, I just leave the toilet dirty until he gets more. He gets the point.

i know it isn't much of a consolation - but at least he tried. My fiance wouldn't have even attempted to do the shopping.

Ha! Well, you get to come up with some new menu items. And he isn't allowed to complain about what you come up with. How about ground meat, covered in french fries, with brown gravy over it. Kinda like a shepherd's pie? Just a thought - let him plan the meals with what he bought. Maybe he had other ideas than plain fries or cheeseburgers.

Oh no! Yes, it's hard to send someone else after the groceries! But I do, cause I'm just so sick of the stores! I have to write a list and make them promise to get the stuff on it, and compare prices! Then if it's hubby I figure he'll spend a little extra.. but he doesn't go anyway! Maybe once in a lifetime! But I'll send our kids, mostly our daughter, as I babysit for her a lot. I don't send extra money though! As both kids are living at home and usually eat here. [Sometimes our son will cook supper! And that's a treat, when I don't have to cook. Cooking, shopping.. yuck.]

That's so funny. My husband is pretty good at shopping on his own...I think I've trained him well.
