I'm really confused about ATP and respiration - is phosphorlyisation the same thing as respiration? And is the creation of ADP the only purpose of respiration, or is that just a stage of it?

Hi! Look it up, it's everywhere in the internet (err.. on biological or biochemistry or related topics sites). At the outset, I think you should make the distinction that ATP and ADP (though intermediate) are products, while respiration and phosphorylation are metabolic processes within the cell. ATP production is the ultimate goal, as it is the energy that fuels metabolic processes requiring energy.
