"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (ASV) I'm a firm believer in the concept that attitude is everything. It shapes the way we see the world around us. Doctors know that a patient whose attitude is good recovers better than one who constantly grumbles. Employers know that positive employees are more productive. It seems to touch every part of our lives. The great part is that we get to choose our attitude. When you wake up in the morning, you have a choice to make every day. You can choose to let the world affect the way your day goes, or you can choose to have a great day, no matter what the world may throw at you. Of course, hanging on to that decision through the day is the hard part. Fortunately, Paul gives us a great way to maintain a good attitude. He tells us to focus our minds on the good things. It's hard to be in a sour mood when your mind is focused on the things of God! Praising God can counteract any difficult situation! What are some of the good things God has put into your life? How can you remind yourself to focus on these things in the midst of a bad day?

I just read something from Bottomline, I think it was, where they've done "scientific research to prove" that a positive attitude makes people live longer and healthier. The article said the same thing you did - that we get to choose our attitudes. It strikes me as kind of odd that God's laws are being "discovered" by the scientific community and touted as their own. :) Maybe some day, they'll figure it out. We can hope.

When you get right down to it, science has really been working against itself in it's refusal to accept God's existence. They're trying to understand this world we live in, but they refuse to take the time to get to know the One who created it!

Absolutely agreed. Science has shot itself in the foot more than once, but has never acknowledged it. There are a few scientists who are Christians, and they must have a hard time in the scientific circles.

First of all I would like to tell you that I didn't understand the verse. I know its from the bible. It's hard for me to understand gee! sorry. But in your second paragraph I have gathered an idea and agreeing with you all the way. Yes! its like mind over matter. I agree with your statement there. I didn't know that this is also in the bible. God is very genius heheh. He has written this before huh? I believe you have to have a healthy conversation on your mind to succeed. It all starts on the mind. If you are really determined and believed it's gonna happen, its gonna happen. Of course if you truly believe in it, you will do something. You will act. God will not just give it to you. After all, God has given you everything that you need. He has blessed you with a lot of talents and abilities. You remind me of the book I read from Og Mandino. He was trying to point out there that mind is power.

Ok, I'm assuming the reason you're having trouble understanding the verse is a language/translation issue. I'm also assuming your first language is Tagalog. If this is the case, here's a translation for you: "Sa katapus-tapusan mga kapatid, anumang mga bagay na totoo, anuman ang marangal, anuman ang matuwid, anuman ang dalisay, anumang mga bagay ang kaibig-ibig, anuman ang may mabuting ulat, kung mayroon mang kabutihan at anumang kapuri-puri, ang mga bagay na ito ang isipin ninyo." FYI the New Testament in Tagalog can be found here: http://www.biblegateway.com/versions/index.php?action=getVersionInfo&vid=43#booklist

I love those verses. They are great verses to start the day with. It is hard to always do that, but very necessary to remind ourselves we are in Gods universe, and he is in control. Isn't that comforting?

Hard to think of anything that might be more comforting!
