Child Disipline...

Does anyone out there use the "Bad Chair" as a form for disipline for their children? If so, do you find that it works in curving bad behaviour? Any other suggestions for stopping bad or non-sense behaviour in an almost 9 year old and 2.5 year old? Both of my children are pushing my buttons (and I believe purposly most of the time) and I just want them to know that it is un acceptable and that it will not be tolerated. I dont want to be mean...I just would like to teach them that I will not tolerate this! Any suggestions would be great.

I don't use a "bad chair" but I have used the corner on several occasions. If they do something which is just unacceptable, I make them stand in the corner (1 minute per year - as in if they are two then it's two minutes in the corner). However I don't start the timer until they are quiet. I have found it to be quite effective.

Thank you for the response! I have just recently started the "bad chair" and have found it to be working fairly well. I just wanted to talk to other parents and see if it worked for them and what other methods they use for disipline. So my daughter is 9 years old, do you think that 9 minutes (1 min per year) is to long to leave her on the chair?
