How to increase referrals?

Any innovative ideas on how to increase the referrals? i think if we stop users registering straightaway from mylot.com, the no of people who are being referred will surely increase.
i can think of advertising in yahoo chat rooms, our own blog sites, online forums etc.,
If there is some advantage even to the person who has been referred, more and more people will join by reference.

Hmmm... Well, there are lots of ways to increase referrals but the only problem is its reliability. Like inviting our contact in Yahoo Messenger, our friends in Friendster and Facebook then so on...
But, can we really rely on them that they will be active here. So, that's where problem occur. In short, referrals might still useless without their cooperation.
Am I right?

What you are talking is not totally wrong.
When you spend almost an hour or so for some refferal
you find that the same friend joins directly from the mylot site and our efforts are lost.
The suggestion given by you would really work better
for existing users to promote the referrals.
The earning too could be little better.
Only one out of ten respond your efforts in referal business.

U blog the sites which u use, mail ur frnds. But the problem i'am facing is that my referrals are not active on mylot, they are of no use. Only one of them is of use. One more prob ppl firstly say that ok u'll also get 25% percent, u'll take our money n that sort of thgs.
