I will be a grandpa(?)

I have been seeing a woman for almost 3 years and we are kind of living together while I am renovating my house. I am included in her family gatherings and such and sometimes go with her to her church. Her son is living with a woman( they just bought a house together) and they came over to tell us she was pregnent. My question is what am I to be called? The child will have 4 grandfathers since both parents split and remarried or are living with someone long term. I am too young to be an old curmudgeon. Any suggestions?

guess it depends on what the parents of the child want you to be called as it is there choice, you arnt married to this woman so the title of grandpa is not yours. so my guess is the child should call you by your name unless otherwise changed by the childs parents

its good that u want to be called grandpa, but you should leave it up to the childs parents, i am a grandmother who has remarried and the ex is still alive so my grandkids have grandparents so my new husand is called by his name and thats the parents choice there leaving it up to the child what they want to call him when she gets older

While it's really up to the new Mom & Dad what they want their child to call you, I think Grandpa Mike is a good way to go. In my family, my girls Dad and I divorced, then he got remarried. While my exes wife is not really the grandsons grandma, I'm happy to hear him call her 'Gramma Kathy.' And surprise...in this day and age you'd be amazed at how young some of the new grandma's and grandpa's are, lol. Grandma's and Grandpa's don't even resemble what we think of do they?

I have a friend 2 doors down that was a grandma in her late 30's. I told her she was the sexiest looking grandma I had ever seen. Now my girlfriend is!

Well, I wouldn't really say you are a grandpa since you aren't married to the grandma. But, if you want the baby to call you by a name and if the family wants it too, then I see no harm in it.

My girlfriend's son and his girlfriend are not married either. I did not know that a person had to be married to be a grandpa. They would be in a sticky situation to call me on it if they did not get married too.

Thank you Sandie61. I am 45. I know that is not too young to be a "Grampa" but it feels young to me. I have a son in his twenties, so I could be a Grandpa for real someday soon, who knows?
